Welcome to My Linux Page!

This site is to help all those Newbies out there, who have decided to give Linux a go.To start off with I salute all who are willing to try an new OS. This is a step in the right direction if you want a operating system that does what you want it to do as opposed to Windows which while alright doesn't give the user enough scope to configure it to your personal taste.

On the following pages you will find various links and step by step instructions on setting up a Linux box. A little warning here is appropriate I think, heed these words well.

“No matter how good the advice, it may not always work. There are so many different Linux Distributions and Hardware configurations that it would be almost impossible to list all the information required to do a successful installation on all systems. So do not rant and rave and send me copious amounts of e-mail telling me that I don’t know what I’m doing and should be put to the Sword as I will just remove this site and let you all rot in HELL, without succour or a stable OS.

On the other hand If you would like to email me with any simple problems I will endeavour to answer with a solution or direct you to a site that may have the information you require to get your OS off the ground. On the other hand if you have found a work around for a problem and would like to share it with other Newbies feel free to email it to me and I will endeavour to put it on this site. The sharing of this sort of information can only be of benefit to all Linux users, whether they are Newbies or Gurus. One thing further......these solutions worked for me. I have a "Dual boot system", Win95/Redhat5.2 running on a Pentium 166 MMX. I have two Hard Drives, my master drive "C" has Win95 resident and my other drive "D" shares Redhat 5.2 and Dos. I have a Sony 100sf monitor a BJC 4200 printer and a Plustek OpticPro 4800P scanner(not functioning in Linux yet, but it will be. Have no doubt!). Internally I have a SB16 AWE32 sound card and a S3Virge video card.

As I am new to creating web pages please inform me if there are any problems with this site. All criticisms will be greatly appreciated and remedied if at all possible.

I hope that you find what you need here, if not cruise on into a Linux newsgroup and ask your question. Most questions are answered. although at times replies can take a while. Don't be discouraged.......as they say If at first you don't succeed, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!!!!
