SimCity Guide

Since SimCity is my all-time favorite game, I though I might do a "strategy guide" for it. So, here it is. Read on to find out how you can efficiently build your own simulation city.

Okay, the first thing to know is the different things you can put in your city. The following chart will show you these things.

Thing What Is Good About It What Is Bad About It Cost
Bulldoze It's not something you put in your city, but I'm putting it here so you can see how much it costs. Nothing really bad about it. $1
Power Lines Connects zones together in a "power grid". If you use too many, you'll be wasting electrical power. $5 ($10 over water)
Park Gives good land value. Doesn't give that much good land value. $10
Road Gives your SimCitizens a way for transportation. Traffic makes pollution. $10 ($20 over water)
Railroad Gives your SimCitizens a way for transportation. No pollution, but more expensive than roads. $20 ($40 over water)
Residential Zone Gives your SimCitizens a place to build houses, apartments, condos, hospitals, and schools. Nothing really bad about it. $100
Commercial Zone Gives your SimCitizens a place to build businesses. Nothing really bad about it. $100
Industrial Zone Gives your SimCitizens a place to build factories. Pollution. $100
Police Department Reduces crime in the area that it is placed. You have to pay a total of $100 of funding every year. $500
Fire Department Reduces the spread of fire in the area that it is placed. You have to pay a total of $100 of funding every year. $500
Stadium Increases residential growth. Nothing really bad about it. $3,000
Seaport Increases industrial growth. High pollution and allows you to have a ship. The ship can, and most likely will, crash into bridges that are in its way. $5,000
Airport Increases commercial growth and allows you to have a helicopter. The helicopter reports traffic jams, fires, tornadoes, etc. Very high pollution and allows you to have an airplane. Airplanes can, and most likely will, crash. $10,000
Coal Power Plant Gives electrical power. High pollution. $3,000
Nuclear Power Plant Gives electrical power. There is a very small chance of a nuclear meltdown. A nuclear meltdown causes a lot of pollution and the radiation takes a very long time to go away. $5,000
Mayor's House Gives great land value and gets bigger and fancier as your city grows. Nothing really bad about it. $100
Bank (Savings & Loans) Gives great land value for commercial areas and allows you to take out a $10,000 loan. Nothing really bad about it. $100
Zoo Gives great land value and $100 of special income each year. Nothing really bad about it. $100
City Park Gives great land value. Nothing really bad about it. $100
Railroad Station Gives great land value for commercial areas and $100 of special income each year. Nothing really bad about it. $100
