1932-2006

Our beloved Mom entered hospital on 17 April 2oo6
the following day she underwent open heart surgery
after 15 days she could no longer battle
after 19yrs since our Father Robert Dale Poynter crossed
Mom entered the spirit world
at 11:25pm on 1st May 2oo6
Laid to rest on 5th May we did not want to let her go
but we also did not want to watch her suffer
Blessed to know and experience her love and energy
Lucky to have held her hand as she took her last breath
she scribbled on a piece of paper before she went
I want to go HOME
Mom earned her halo and wings...
she has flow to Jesus
daughter of Jesse Matlock & Kathleen Massey
brothers Charles (Chuck), James (Jimmy)
and aka Annie to a bro & sis still living
12 children - 3 already crossed: Mike, Bobby & Teresa
28 grand and 8 great grand children

were known to be
French Protestant Huguenots (FPH).
Many (FPH) were wealthy merchants who emigrated
rather than giving up their religous freedom.

Open religious warfare between
Catholics and Huguenots
took place in the 1560's.

the story told by most Poynter descendants
is that three (3) Poynter brothers came
from England and settled in VA./KY. and
they fought in the
Militia and Revolutionary War.

1929 Philip M. Poynter letter states
John & Thomas Pointer were in KY abt. 178o
their brother Wm. Pointer arrived 16yrs later from VA.

our late Father Robert D. Poynter
once told me that our ancestors were
Penn. Dutch and German.
(Note: a variation of Poynter is Painter/Bender).

a descendant from the Thomas Poynter or
Montgomery co. KY Pointer branch
state their ancestor Edmond ? came from Scotland.

another descendant claims their Wm. Pointer was of German descent.

another descendant states Poynter brothers came
from England by boat to America before Rev. War
one of these Pointer men were killed in
War of Independence

an unknown source states Thomas Pointer came to
Lincoln KY abt. 178o with William and ? Pointer
from Loudon & Fairfax co. VA and were possible
grandsons of Thomas Poynter & Frances Innes of
Northampton co. VA

show their ancestor John Pointer was from England
and settled near Crab Orchard, Lincoln co. KY.

wrote Wm. Pointer settled Penn.

another states that the Wm. Pointer of Barren co. KY was from Maryland.

a daug. of Wm. Pointer & Sally Chapman
recorded a Scotch Ancestory.

descendants of the Samuel Pointer of Halifax co. VA
show English descent and came with a brother to America
settling in VA.
Samuel Pointer is said to have been a large land owner
in Granville NC.

simular findings of a Seth Pointer migrating from
England abt. 173o's to Norfolk VA who had a son
Samuel Pointer serving in the Rev. War.

descendants of Samuel Potts Pointer or
Fleming & Nicholas co. KY Pointer branch show him being
born abt. 1770 in Loudon co. VA.
His Father moved to KY leaving him to be raised by
grandparents in Brownsville PA.
