Jennifer Esposito joined the cast of SPIN CITY last season as Stacy, the wise-cracking, feisty secretary to the Deputy Mayor of New York. She had the challenging job of appearing on two primetime television shows simultaneously, since she
had a recurring role as a "Mafia princess" on NEW YORK UNDERCOVER. The following section is a transcript of an interview that Jennifer had with Usa Weekend recently. Here goes. The stuff they said is in italics, and it has USA written out beside it. But if you're so stupid you couldn't figure that out, you probably can't read in the first place. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! [thoughtful pause] I'm sorry..I'm just not as funny as I used to be. USA: Viewers know Jennifer Esposito, 27, as Michael J. Fox's wisecracking secretary on ABC's Spin City. But Starting with this week's role as a blond punk rocker in Spike Lee's Summer of Sam, Esposito is giving up her small-screen gig to focus on her budding movie career. USofA: This is your second Spike Lee movie. (He Got Game was first.) What's it like working with him? JENNIFER: If you're too soft-natured, you may not do well. Because he's quick and doesn't have any time for calming people. He's a man of little words. But you will know if he's unhappy. USA: Does he heckle you, as he does at NBA games? JENNIFER: Oh, no. That would be hard. He knows what he wants, and until he gets it he doesn't move on. One day, a cell phone went off. Forget it. That doesn't happen on the set. USA:Did the Spin City set get right back to business after Michael J. Fox's disclosure about having Parkinson's disease? JENNIFER: It was never any different. For a day, we spoke about it, and it was gone. I was honestly in shock. I knew he wasn't feeling well sometimes. I didn't have any idea it was as serious as that. I said, "Mike, what do we do now?" He said, "Nothing. We do the show.". USA: As a native New Yorker, how would you run the city? JENNIFER: The cabdrivers all need to go to school for driving. It's a mess. I can't get into a cab without really feeling nauseous. And that is that. That was all of the interview, and to go to the USA weekend site go Here.
The following is my own explanation of why I'm putting up a part of my page for her, and also explains the Doug E. Doug thing as well. In my personal opinion, I think Jennifer Esposito (much like Doug E. Doug) is one of the most underated actresses in the industry today. (And I'm not calling Doug E. Doug an actress either, it's just that's a similar comparison.) As a matter of fact, I think most of the Spin City cast (with possibly the exception of Michael J. Fox) are very under rated when it comes to acting. Now, a lot of you may be saying, why do you put up these tribute pages for people who haven't exactly made it big in Hollywood? Well, the way I see it Mr. Negativity, anybody can jump on a band wagon and say they've liked someone all along when they hit it big and be lying through their teeth. These are celebrities that I enjoy watching and enjoy following their careers a great deal. I sense that both these two (Jennifer Esposito and Doug E. Doug) are going to great heights and remember, I was here from the beginning. Thank you.
Now that we've had a serious moment, get your butt back to the main page pronto for some nutty amusement! (think creative, not perverted.)
We're waiting for you at the main page.
