Kirk's Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Pages

This is my first attempt at a home page, so be patient. My name is Kirk and I live in Illinois. As the title implies, this page is dedicated to Vintage Japanese bikes. My goal is to provide viewers with information on resources for the restoration and enjoyments of these bikes, as well as show the progress - or lack of - on my restoration projects. I currently own two VJ bikes - I told my wife they multiply by cell division. She didn't buy that excuse! I don't plan on getting any more bikes in the near future, but you never know when a deal to good to pass up comes along. In the past year I have received a tremendous amount of help and encouragement from many different people from around the world. I'd like to take this opportunity to tell them thank you for putting up with my questions and for making this such a rewarding hobby.

My Restoration Project

This is my current restoration project. It's a 1966 Honda CB77 Superhawk, regarded by some as the bike that unleashed the Japanese motorcycle tidal wave that swept the United States in the 60's and 70's. The bike had been resting in my father-in-laws barn in Central Illinois for about 15 years when he decided he didn't have the time or the desire to get the bike running. He hauled it over to Indiana where it took up residence in my garage and moved my car into the driveway. As you probably guessed, this is NOT an actual picture of my bike, nor will it probably look as good as this when I'm done. I do hope to have the 'before' pic up here in the near future. What I hope to have is a good-looking, reliable classic motorcycle to ride the local roads on Sunday afternoons. Currently, the bike is almost stripped down to the bare frame while I decide how far to go with the restoration. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Here are some specifications on the bike taken from the owners manual.

My Daily Rider

My most recent acquisition is a 1973 Honda CB350G. More CB350's were sold than any other single model. It is a simple, rugged twin cylinder design with commendable performance. The 'G' designation indicates a disc brake on the front. This is actually my bike this time! I have posted specifications for this bike also.

I have some pics of friends bikes too!
