CASTLE TAKES
BOYS AND GIRLS
SIAC CROWNS
The Castle boys and girls team each took home the SIAC titles on
October 7, 2000 at the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference Meet
at USI. This marks the first time that both a guys and a girls team
from the same school have won the SIAC in the same year since
Harrison did it in 1991.
The guys team won by a final score of Castle-41, North-52, and
Reitz-63. The Knights were led by Jason Lamar in 5th in 16:43,
Adam McCuiston in 6th in 16:49, Lewis Kivett in 7th in 16:49, Brent
Martin in 10th in 17:04, and Nick Wagner in 13th in 17:13.
Rounding out the top 7 were Joe Barniak and Jeff Scarafia.
The girls team, ranked 20th in the state for the first time in Castle
history, won by a final score of Castle-35 to Memorial-44. The
Knights were led by Christine Callahan in 3rd, Sarah Ulrey in 5th,
Tina Barniak in 7th, Emi Ruble in 8th, and Ashley Shackelford in
12th.
The guys and girls team next prepare for the Sectional race at USI
on October 14, 2000.
