CASTLE GIRLS WIN MATER DEI INVITATIONAL!!!!!!

*BEAT #18 RANKED TEAM IN STATE

The 2000 Castle Girls Team started their season off with an unlikely win at the Mater Dei Invitational, beating the 18^th ranked team in the state, Tell City. The young Castle Knights squad won over the more experienced Tell City team 51 to 52. This was the Lady Knights first victory at the Mater Dei Invitational (An invitational consisting of 16 teams).

The girls were led by sophomore Christine Callahan and a 5^th place finish, next was senior Sarah Ulrey with an 8^th place finish, sophomore Tina Barniak came in 11^th, sophomore Ashley Shackelford came in 15^th, and rounding out the top five was freshman Emi Ruble with a place of 17^th.

*Note-The 3^rd place girl was not counted in the team scores due to her not having a team, thus the Castle girls finished 4^th, 7^th, 10^th, 14^th, and 16^th.
