BOYS WIN VINCENNES INVITE

GIRLS PLACE 2ND

On Saturday September 23, 2000 the Castle teams traveled to Vincennes for the Vincennes Lincoln Invitational. The guys team won the varsity race by a slim margin. Senior Jason Lamar and junior Nick Wagner had the best races of the day. Lamar finished fourth overall in a time of 17:34 on about a 3.2 mile course. Nick Wagner who was 1 minute and 3 seconds behind Castle's front man last week ran a 17:57 to finish in 15th (only 23 seconds behind Lamar). Rounding out the top five were Lewis Kivett with a 17:39 in 9th, Brent Martin with a 17:45 in 10th and Adam McCuiston with an 18:01 in 20th.

The Castle girls finished 2nd behind Vincennes Lincoln who is ranked 14th in the state by a final score of 51 to 59. Finishing first for the Knights was sophomore Christine Callahan who finished 4th, Tina Barniak finished 7th, Emi Ruble finished 9th, and Ashley Shackelford finished 11th. The Knights were without their second runner, thus making their showing that much better. The Lady Knights will face Vincennes Lincoln again on September 30, 2000 at the Pike Central Invitational.

The guys team will next run at North Posey on Thursday, September 28. The guys will then face off against over 20 other teams at the Pike Central Invitational including Daviess County, Kentucky, Gibson Southern, Reitz, and North Central.
