Aya,
There have been discovered some misleading discrepancies in a few of the family lines in the genealogical book mentioned above. In the future there will be an updated version of this book printed and published, hopefully in 2015 or 2016, but until then lets make the corrections to these lineages known to the public so that they may correct their family lineage and history.
The corrections involve the family names of: COUTURE, CAMPEAU, CHAPOTON, GODFROY, DOUAIRE DE BONDY, BLAY-BLAIS- BELYEA, ST. ONGE DIT CHESNE, MALLET, EMARD, BINEAU, BOUFFARD, COTE, QUERCY, LACASSE, BAZIN, ANTAYA, CHATEAUVIEUX, DESHETRES, HERSCH, MCMILLAN, MCCARRY, BAILLY (COUC DIT LAFLEUR) LAFEBVRE, FONTENEAU, CLAVELEAU, BRUNET, ESTEVE dit LAJEUNESSE, FRAPPIER, RENE, PETIT, GUERIBOUT, STENE, LEBLOND, and CASSAINGE.
After a few of the discrepancies were brought to attention, and after some extensive genealogical research involving several months was completed, it was discovered that the particular direct lineages of the families above are purely FRENCH and have NO Wea or Miami Indian blood in their direct lineages.
While it is true that many of the surnames listed above do have Wea or Miami Indian blood lines, and they are interwoven into the direct family lines above as cousins and distant relatives, the direct lineage leading to the modern day individuals are that of purely FRENCH ancestors that immigrated to Canada from France. The direct lineages that this notice pertains to are listed below for your convenience.
Apologizes go out for any confusion this may have caused. As always, no genealogical work is seemly ever completed and there is always more evidence to be discovered, added or corrected. When in doubt check the sources for yourself.

Notes for JEAN BAPTISTE (JR.) COUTURE:
1794 - Métis Record:
May 23: The McDonell party consisted of nineteen canoes and two boats, manned by one hundred men and masters. The party camped near Fort Frobisher at the forks of Red River. Monsieur Gareau, a voyageur with the North West Company, joined the group when it split at the forks. The main party continued to Lake Winnipeg. The party, with Monsieur Gareau, St. James, St. Pierre, Bedard, (IV)-Jean Baptiste Couture (b-1735)(LaCouture), and Pierre Alain, went up the Assiniboine River to trade in the River la Souris with the Assiniboine, Gros Ventre, Cree, and some times the Mandan and Blackfoot ventured into the region.
1795 - Métis Record:
Monday, January 5: John MacDonnell reported, according to Masson (1960 I: 292-93), that St. James, St. Pierre, Bedard, (IV)- Jean Baptiste Couture (b-1735) (LaCouture), Pierre Alain and Monsieur Gareau had arrived from River Le Souris(about one hundred and twenty five miles up the Assiniboine River) with pieces (furs). The latter Monsieur (Gareau) stayed behind at the Foutreau's lodge. He gave them a keg of one gallon of rum he had of his own. And because this did not suffice in getting the Foutreau's daughter as he had expected, he pierced the keg of high-wines he was in charge of and gave it to the Indians in pure form. In short, there are six quarts missing off the keg and six large knives wanting in his load. The whole keg would have been taken from him by the Foutreau and his band, who get enraged with drinking pure high-wines, had it not been for the Gendre (son-in-law) du Foutreau, a good Indian, who hurried Monsieur Gareau and Pierre Alain, the gambler de Goblets, off in the night, en fuyards (fugitives), leaving the girl, as well as rum and knives, in quiet possession of the Indians.

Fort Detroit was previously known as "Fort Ponchartrain."
Ch. 3, source 12: The Godfroy family of Detroit was originally from Normandie, settled at Trois Rivieres, Canada in 1633. Detroit Michigan first settlers included Jacques Godfroy Sieur de Mauboeuf who died at Detroit in 1730, Character of the Colony. The Des Ruisseaux's, Cicot's and Chapoton's,Conspiracy of Chief Pontiac. Detroit surrendered to the British in 1761, Col. Gabriel Godfroy,Hon. Pierre Godfroy and his children, Elizabeth Virginia, Caroline Anne and Alexandrine Louise.
Ch. 3, source 12: The only surviving child of Jacques Godfroy and Marie Louise Chapoton, two daughters dying in infancy, was Jacques Gabriel Godefroi, named from his uncle Gabriel le Grand Sieur de Siatre a French officer. Gabriel was born in old Fort Ponchartrain du Detroit. Like his father he became familiar with all the Indian dialects, and was appointed interpreter by the English Commandant and later by the French officers. In 1805 on the organization of a territorial government by the Americans, Gabriel became Colonel of the First Regiment of the Territorial Militia. He was also made Indian Agent carrying the rank of Major in the regular army. In connection with his father and a partner, Godfroy & Beaugrand, a line of trading post was established from Detroit to the Mississippi, by way of the Miami and Wabash Rivers. The town of Ypsilanti, originally "Godfroy's Trading Post," he sold to Judge Woodward, the Territorial Judge, for a few thousand dollars in 1815. For his bravery in 1812, and for his skill and zeal in bringing to a successful conclusion the various Indian treaties negotiated under General Cass, Gabriel received the personal thanks of General William Henry Harrison and President Monroe. By these treaties the title to a large portion of the Northwest Territory was obtained.
Col. Godfroy became one of the largest landholders in the west at an early day, but most of the vast tracts once in his name have been gradually frittered away by his numerous descendants. He is described in Trowbridge's memoirs in 1820 as "a most courtly old French Gentleman." He married first Catherine Couture. Their eldest son, also named Gabriel, married a daughter of Judge May, an early territorial Judge. From them descend the Godfroy's of Grand Rapids, Michigan. His second wife, Therese Douaire de Bondy, was descended from an ancient French family. From this marriage also resulted a large number of children. One son, Jacques settled at Monroe, Michigan and has numerous posterity.
Gabriel's eldest son, Pierre dit le Prince born 1779, died 1848, remained in Detroit and succeeded to the paternal estate there. He was a gentleman of education and completed his college course at Bordentown, Kentucky.
When in 1812 Gabriel Godfroy led his regiment to the scene of action at Brownstown, he had given special orders that his young son Pierre should remain at home, but in the heat of the battle he espied the boy lying behind a long and blazing away at the Indians. As he proved a successful marksman his fault was forgiven.

Per Denissen: John/Jean studied surgery in France and became a surgeon in the French Army. He was sent to Fort Ponchartrain of Detroit as a surgeon of the garrison late in the year 1719. In the records of Ste. Anne, his name first appears as acting groomsman at the marriage of John Baptist Gouyou dit LaGarde and Mary Rose.
John/Jean Chapoton obtained from the French government a grant of land of 20 arpents frontage and 40 arpents depth, now called "Private Claim NO. 5" or the "Charles Moran Farm," bounded on the east side by Hasting Street. This grant was issued 6-18-1734 and Dr. Chapoton took residence on his farm. He did not confine himself to surgery, but was the practicing and the only physician for the garrison and for the inhabitants of Detroit and the vicinity.

Source 5: The Sieur Jacques Godfroy married at Detroit in 1758 Marie Louise Clothilda Chapoton, youngest daughter of Major Jean Baptiste Chapoton of the regular French Troops, then acting Surgeon of the Post. As Mons de Bellestre, the last French Commandant, was nephew of des Ruisseaux, it will be seen that Ensign Godfroy, with his father-in-law, Chapoton, were the proper persons to intercede with Pontiac, on which mission they were sent. The story of Pontiac's conspiracy is graphically described by Parkman.
