Yohiko's Hope
Mood: a-ok Now Playing: This is an Oil Portrait Study &Finished Piece Topic: The Art I was much appreciative for Yoshiko to model for me on this painting, it has definately been a long distance work, but now made possible by the world wide web. I must say that this work has brought a sort of revival for me in painting. I have looked back at the last few years and have felt I would have progressed more as far finally making a go of all this. I did get to the point of just wanting to quit because of the constant reminder of this creative drive I have...The two pics are with the first being an 8x10 study...and the second being the 20x24 finished piece! The second picture below is the final version with adjustments made, which was what I saw in the reference photo that was used. Let me make a point I do not use projectors, I use a grid system for sketch transfer which is a time proven method some believe that Albrecht Durer developed..which can be seen in the how-to pages on my website and below in #3 pic!

Mood: a-ok Now Playing: Tongan Tradition Topic: The Art I did this Oil some years back, which was donated to a local Non-Profit I believe in. I worked with them also previously to that. Their work entailed working with the Disabled, in various forms of Handicaps, Mental and Physical, The work entailed helping them learn a trade and hopefully to work in the outside public sector. I saw many success stories, and the joy of being able to help. I learned more of the human spirit and the resiliency of the soul than I ever did sitting in a college classroom...it was that also, that helped form and recenter my views on art. This piece "Tongan Tradition" was one of those subjects that I happened upon....The image was slotted to be used by in the publication Elements of Literature, Fifth Course published by Holt, Rinehart and Winston.thpugh now it has been sometime and I never received a tear-sheet for confirmation...yet here is this painting which was from real life. This shows the education in the processes of tradition. Education begins at home... I happened upon this father instructing his son and having him aid in making the ti plant leaf skirts for their ceremony..they agreed and I used the images I snapped for reference.... 36x48 Oil on Canvas "Tongan Tradition" Also may be known as "Father and Son"...Thanks for dropping by! Tim
