2-25-01nutbox/dark day dawning/wormbath/the boils-why this was labeled "punk rock prom", i have no idea, but lenape shows are usually pretty fun even if you just sit and absorb all the different types of people who showed up. nutbox were alright. i enjoyed dark day dawning. besides the fact that wormbath are punk, they put on a good show. and we only stayed for the boils because of crusty punk christy. i think this show was more about the atmosphere... it was all positive, with happy pits and dancing... i got a high five from Brian (inkling's drummer), i was told by some girl that she sees me at every show and thinks i'm really pretty, and i was inadvertently invited to some guy's party because of my "pink hair" and "attractivness." It all was a big self esteem booster for me.
2-17-01inkling/all else failed/charlie brown gets a valentine/fairmont-extremely fun show! one of inkling's best performances... it was their last show with Eric (their bassist), so they played all their new songs and all the old hits, and all insanity broke lose at the end when they started beating on their equipment. this led up to all else failed's performance, which was also awesome.
2-14-01SnoCore 2001-Although nothing could ever top last year's SnoCore, I still had a lot of fun at this year's tour. Boy Hits Car... i think the name is supposed to symobolize what you are compelled to do after hearing the band perform. They were boring and identical to the two bands that followed them: Slaves on Dope and Union Underground. I never heard the combination of three bands use the words "fuck" and "mother fuckers" so many times in one night. The one piece of excitment that came out of the three bands was when the singer of Union Underground, (i think), got spit on and jumped into the crowd to beat the guy up. "Don't ever spit on me, mother fuckers!" Anyway, Kittie weren't bad. (Talena made it all worth while.) Fear Factory were not a let down. I stood in the little group in front of Dino, where we would sing the lyrics back to each other. They played 3 new songs, which sounded very good, and my ears are still ringing 2 days later.
12-10-00inkling/drowningman/twelve tribes/darkest hour-Lansdale shows rule. Especially when Inkling are there. It's so cool to watch the whole band walk around, and dance and watch the other bands. I also enjoyed seeing all the familiar local scene people. I hadn't seen inkling since May or something, so seeing them again made me really excited- i kept bouncing up and down and getting into the music a lot. Of course they were awesome, (they always are), i just wish the set was longer. Darkest Hour looked like a bunch of hicks, but they played pretty cool hardcore. Twelve Tribes was alright, the singer w/ dreads kept touching phil's head, and they played a Faith no More cover. I thought they actually did it better than the original. Drowningman was sounding pretty cool, except the sound was sort of mushed together, so we decided we had our fill of hardcore for the night, and left early. But it was a fun night- i got Jon to send me a comp. tape he made, inkling's guitarist wrote on my hand and gave me and phil picks, i got an inkling/CBGaV 7", and i took lots of pictures.
11-26-00Dysphoria/xiii pfp/Comin Correct/Denile/SEED/Fairmont-Another lansdale show full of hardcore. The only band that really stuck out was Fairmont. They're very emo/inkling-like, and Jon (the happy pit guy) is their drummer. I bought a tape... they're good. The other bands were just hardcore, with the best of them being Dysphoria of course.
11-24-00Deftones/Incubus/Taproot-weeeeird... i've never been to the Tower Theater before, and it's not a very good venue to see a band, unless it's Yanni or something. We had seats on the upper level, so I felt like I was sitting in my living room watching the tv or something. The bird's eye view was pretty cool, though, cuz I could see everything on the stage and all of the pit. Taproot's sound was really muffled, so I can't be sure if they're cool or not. Incubus get more and more pop-sounding/looking every time i see them. I think Brandon was drunk, too. They sounded good, anyway. The Deftones were just plain awesome. Chino was going crazy all over the stage and he gets the audience involved a lot. For the encore, during 7 Words, they broke out into a Weezer song which was very cool. I was actually getting chills cuz they were so awesome. The only other bands that do that to me are Inkling and Green Day. The only things that sucked were that me and Phil had an extra ticket, and everywhere you turned there were drunk college kids. But.. yea... Deftones rule!
11-13-00Less Than Jake/Blue Meanies/Big Wig-A night full 'o Ska. Brandt, Josh, Josh S., Phil and I drove down to The Crocodile Rock Cafe, which is a very cool, small club. No matter where you stand, you're in the middle of some kind of action, but you can also see fairly well. Anyway, I enjoyed Big Wig. They weren't too ska-y. They actually had some hardcoredness going on. I didn't like the Blue Meanies very much, though. Too many horns for me to handle. Less Than Jake were pretty cool. They're very interesting to see live. They opened their show by filling the whole place with fog so you weren't able to see anything but white blankness, and I knew a few of the songs they played so all in all it was a pretty cool night. I almost even jumped in the circle pit during the last song, but my tiredness held me back. I had fun anyway. I'd like to see another show there.
11-10-00RANCiD-I've never seen so many mohawks... it was really hard to see the stage. If you're going to go to a concert having a huge mohawk sticking out all over the place, the least you could do is NOT stand right in front of the stage or infront of the little people. Anyway, Phil and I decided not to drive down and also missed the train, so we ended up taking a later train, which caused us to miss The Distillers, Hepcat, and A.F.I. I was kinda disappointed, but I don't care cuz I had fun anyway. It was weird though... it was like we casually stopped by to visit Rancid for 45 minutes, then we had to leave. They put on an awesome show, though, I wish I could have seen the whole thing, and from the pit. We couldn't get close enough to mosh, but I wanted to the whole time. I like how the punk shows make the audience seem like one big family. Everyone was singing, and Tim & Lars let us sing a lot of the times. It was very cool... basically the whole place knew all of the words; even the "na na na's" and the "oi oi oi's." I had fun, especially cuz Phil was there, and it was cool to see James yet again.
11-3-00GWAR/Amen/Lamb of God/Wolfpac-Once again, i've been GWAR-ified!! And this time, there was more gore than ever! The first 3 bands were bad. Wolfpac were ok, since i'm more open to rap stuff now, and they put on a crazy show, similar to slipknot, but less crazy. I just didn't like when the 3, half naked girls came out and started licking and kissing each other. I don't need to be seeing that. Amen and Lamb of God were just awful- no further explanation needed. Gwar were awesome, as they always are. They brought back all the monsters and a lot of the characters to make this one super huge crazy show. Sleazy P. was there, which was very cool, and they basically just combined all of their shows together. I got covered in gore again and it was so much fun.
10-21-00V.O.D/Cave In/Glassjaw-This concert was alright. Me and Tony went, but he was more interested in the pit than any of the bands, or me. haha... Tony. Anyway, Glassjaw and the first band sucked A LOT. I almost couldn't stand watching them. But, Cave In made up for all of it. They only played 3 new songs and a cover, but they were awesome and crazy anyway. V.O.D were pretty cool, too. The pit went insane when they came out. I saw James, Yuri, Chris, Matt and Jess were there too, so it was pretty cool.
10-4-00Green Day-Yes, I finally got to see Green Day up close and by themselves!! It was an unknown thing that I was going to this show, until a few hours before the show started, so it was pure craziness that I got to see Green Day. Wendy got on the guest list through the Idiot Club, so after much pleading with her parents, I dropped everything and left to pick up Wendy to catch a bus to New York. We got there- didn't know what to do- caught a cab with some guy, and had so much fun at the concert! We got right up front and I could finally see all their faces and expressions. It was their first show playing their new songs, and they played for like 2 1/2 hours. They played a lot of old stuff too, which was awesome, and they covered "Blitzkrieg Bop", "Dancing with Myself", and all those crazy 80's songs. And Tre sang "All by Myself" and "Dominated Love Slave"!! It was so cute!! At the end, I got splashed with Billie Joe water, and Tre and Mike smashed their stuff. The whole thing was so great, it was the best feeling ever, because I finally got to see the guys who had such an impact on my life. I wanted to go up there and give them all big hugs and say thank you. I love Green Day!
8-27-00Boy Sets Fire/Bane/Joshua Fit For Battle-I suppose this concert was pretty much just a waste of money. First, everything was going wrong... mapquest wasn't working and we had no clue where this club was. We got lost, but found hardcore kids to lead the way. Matt, Yuri, and I actually went to see Drowning Man, but they decided not to show up for some reason. The opening band was alright. We went outside midway into Bane to get some air. Don't ever go to the 4040 Club on a hot, humid day. We could hardly breathe while watching Boy Sets Fire, who weren't bad, but decided to go and join Matt who was sitting in his car. Of course the car was 5 blocks away and it was pouring rain... we had to jump through ankle high puddles, it was craziness. We ended up just going home early and almost running out of gas, and Matt was picking on me the whole time... i don't know... in the end; i had fun for some derranged reason.
7-15-00Dave Matthews Band-My third time seeing Dave, but this was probably the best because we had MUCH better seats... right infront of the stage and all, but still far away. The big screens helped a lot, though. I'm glad he didn't play Crush because I would have had to cry. And there was this ugly stoned lady next to us and just some guy from down at the phillies dugout jumped up and they started making out for like an hour. Then they wouldn't stop touching and tounging the rest of the night. It was very horrifying. After the show, me, Sue, and my mom walked around EVERY parking lot within a 2 mile radius. SERIOUSLY! We got so lost! Finally we asked some guy with a cellphone if we could call Donnelly at the car, and he gave us directions. Freakin Philly.
7-14-00Warped Tour 2000-Even though Green Day and NOFX were there, I didn't have as great a time as I thought I would. It was pretty cool and all, but I don't know. I think the first band I saw was Flogging Molly... I felt like I was in an Irish pub full of pirates or something. Then I saw Dillinger Escape Plan and they were insanely awesome. The singer was losing his voice and it kept cracking. "We are the DILLinger escAPE plan." They were probably the best, because I could see the whole band, and I wasn't being squashed by fat girls or standing behind guys twice as tall as me. Snapcase... eh... they're alright, nothing too special. Millencolin either. Or One Man Army. NOFX were so funny. Fat Mike got FAT and he had bright green hair and him and Hefe were just making jokes most of the time. They played cool songs too. Afterwards, we saw El Hefe just walking around, so I got my picture taken with him. Shana, Matt, and Max were so engulfed in their own little "poking, laughing, doing crazy things" world, so they didn't come watch the Bosstones with me, but I couldn't see anyway, so I skanked and sang by the pretzel hut, looking pretty stupid. While waiting for Green Day to come out, we were pleasantly suprised to have Jurassic 5 (a RAP group) come out instead. So we ran to catch the end of V.O.D. which I don't remember anything about for some reason. I think Shana was distracting me. Finally, we went to watch Green Day, but I lost Matt by pushing more towards the front, so of course I got pushed to the side when they came out and I couldn't see ANYTHING but the back of sweaty people's necks. So I got really distraut and almost cried, and ran to the way back hoping to see better. I couldn't, so in a desperate attempt, I saw some kid standing on a trash can and pulled on his shorts and asked if I could stand with him. So, he pulled me up and I could see, but not really their faces since it was so far. Then the lid caved in, some drunk, white trash lady stole the trash can and we had to stand on the lid on the ground for the rest of the set that just so happened to be EXACTLY the same as when I saw them at the Fez, only shortened. The only cool thing was; at the end, he asked what he should play as the last song and I yelled "Christie Road" and that was what they played. Afterwards, I found out that everyone got to the very front, thinking I was there. grrrrr.... I hate being short and weak. Melissa got me all the Bosstones' autographs and Dickhead Dicky wouldn't get my picture with him cuz he was on the phone. Oh well...
6-7-00Cave In-A week previous to this show, we missed the train to see Steve Brodsky (the singer) at the Pontiac Grille, so Matt went insane, we got lost, we ended up on South Street way after the show, we ate pizza outside, he walked by, we went to his rental car and got a cd. So, this time we knew how to get there, sort of, and we saw the whole band play. They were just awesomely crazy. Afterwards, I had a new found respect for their hardcore-dness.
5-12-00Mustard Plug/Catch22/Edna's Goldfish-Never go to a ska show by yourself, it's just not fun dancing without someone. Matt was there, but he just kept saying he hated punk and ska. Edna's Goldfish were pretty boring, so were the band before them. Catch22 were alright... the singer looked just like captain of a highschool football team. Mustard Plug were pretty cool. I think what I like about ska, is, everyone just has fun and doesn't care about judging each other. I just would've had a lot more fun if I went with someone who liked the music. I felt bad for Matt, so we left early and met with Lisa and Tara who saw Mindless Self Indulgence next to us. And all I have to say is: "EGGROLL" UGH!!
******I just thought i'd mention that i've been to a lot of local shows, but I never wrote about them. Some bands are: Inkling (5 times), ...Now She's Gone (2 x), Worm Bath, Neck, Apathy, Charlie Brown Gets A Valentine, Putrid Flowers, Dysphoria (2 x), Indecision, Manhunt, Cynch, A Life Once Lost, All Else Failed, and lots of other stuff.******
3-5-00Snapcase/Cave In/By the Grace of God/Anti Flag-I'm not so sure if this concert is even worth mentioning, but it was a concert, so I guess I should. Cave In are ok, but for some reason I just didn't like them live. They were boring. By the Grace of God were really really bad. The singer looks and sounds like Mickey Mouse on speed. Anti Flag were a big disapointment. And I already knew I didn't like Snapcase. I plugged my ears and looked at some zines. The highlights of the night were when I got a cool Trocadero shirt, we got food at WaWas (i was starving), and in between bands, they played Faith No More.
2-22-00Sno Core Tour 2000-Mr. Bungle, Incubus, System of a Down? All at the same concert? WHAT? This concert was too much for me. Me, Matt, Julia, and Lisa watched Puya and they were good and all, except the speakers were turned up so loud that it was hurting my ears, so I had to plug my ears the whole time. But, when Mr. Bungle came out, it was better. I got up towards the middle more and I was right in front of Mike again! They came out dressed in different costumes. Mike was a cowboy, all white, including gloves and a hat. haha he was so cute! Me and Julia were screaming the whole time and at one point, he was singing and stared at us and pointed to us! It was so awesome! But, this bitchy girl and guy were standing next to me and they were obviously closed minded idiots, so they kept giving them the finger and the girl started bitching at me, so i bitched back and the guy was getting mad cuz we were screaming, but he was to stubborn to trade spots with me, so I got pretty pissed. But it was cool when the girl got in a fight with another girl and ripped her shirt and stuff, so she got taken out of the pit. For Incubus, I didn't have any energy left, so Lisa and I sat in the back and watched. System of a Down was awesome. I stood by the railing and held everyone's stuff, but I guess it was better than getting smashed in the pit. After the show, we got John's autograph! (the drummer for SOAD) So, it was a really cool concert.
12-9-99Fantomas-Ok... me and Matt got to South Street 2 hours early, so we could walk around. We were looking for someplace to eat, so i looked inside this pizza shop and i go "Hey, that was King Buzzo!" i thought i was kidding, but Matt turned around and goes "It is Buzzo!" So, then, we just kinda stood around the corner trying to figure out what we should do. When we finally decided to go in, he walked out and who was behind him? MIKE PATTON!! You should've seen my face! i was freakin out cuz i didn't have a pen or a camera and i didn't know what to do. So, Matt pushed me over to him cuz he was talking to some other people and i was right next to him, but i didn't know what to say! So, when he was done talking to this fat dude, he looked at me and went "bbllaaayyhhh!" and walked away. AHHH! Then i started crying because.... i don't know why... But, anyway, the beginning of the show was so stupid. We were all standing there for 2 hours waiting for this guy "Kid 606" to fix his stupid electronic equipment and then he played for a half hour and it SUCKED! But, then, Fantomas came out and the TLA is so cool, cuz i was right next to Mike again. (Fantomas is just Mike Patton, doing crazy noises with his voice, Dave Lombardo, from Slayer, on drums, King Buzzo from the Melvins on guitar, and Mr. Bungle's bassist) i didn't stop smiling the whole time, cuz it was so fun.
11-13-99Primus/Incubus/BucketHead- BucketHead was ok, he gets kinda boring after a while. Incubus were the best! They played all my favorite songs, except Consequence, but oh well. Primus was pretty cool. I knew like 5 songs. BUT, ME, JULIA, AND MATT MET INCUBUS!!! It was so great! They signed our cds. I didn't know what to say to them, so i just smiled and looked stupid. I should've asked them who that guy is on all their cds! GR! That's gonna haunt me forever!
11-4-99 Gwar/Misfits/Murphy's Law- Seeing Gwar again was so cool. I got even more covered in gore! But there were lots of stupid scary Misfit people there and they stood in my way and hurt me in the mosh pit. The guy from Murphy's Law was really nice and they were pretty cool. I tried to watch The Misfits, but the amps were turned up WAY too loud and they also sucked, so we left.
9-17-99Slipknot/MachineHead/CoalChamber- Slipknot were awesome and MachineHead were cool, but CoalChamber sucks so bad! I'm sorry, but GOD DAMMIT they're so awful! And all the little kids seem to be attracted to the make-up or something... i don't know.
8-7-99Mr.Bungle-This was such a cool show. Mike sings so good and he's god. We missed our train AGAIN, but we didn't miss any Bungle, just the Dillinger Escape Plan, but oh well.
8-3-99Y100 Fez '99-The fez this year wasn't nearly as cool as last year, but there were still some cool people like Fuel, Offspring and.... Fuel and Offspring. But i watched Fathead, Lit, G Love, Everlast, and Bare Naked Ladies and some of that gay band, Len. And it wasn't funny when my mom got so drunk that she started yelling things like "Y100 Sucks!" "I hate the naked ladies!" and "Dexter!" and then got too drunk to drive us home, so Matt had to.
7-21-99Warped Tour '99- I wish i saw it last year, but it was still good. Anywho, we were late for our train cuz these jerks who had our tickets were being dumb. Then, when we got to Philly, we had to take a cab and of course we get this Habeeb guy who doesn't know what the hell we're talking about so I MISS THE LIVING END!!! GGRRR!!! But i still got to see Pennywise, Suicidal, Less Than Jake, H2O, Blink182, Bouncing Souls, Dropkick Murphy's, Agnostic Front and all them fun bands.
7-17-99Soulfly/Willhaven/Hatebreed/Neurosis- It was freakin 100 degrees in the little Troc and everyone was all sweating and i couldn't breathe. ewww. Anyway, the first bands weren't anything special, but Soulfly was pretty cool even though they didn't even have a drummer, so they had to keep switching people.
6-6-99Ozzfest '99- The Ozzfest was cool this year. Pushmonkey sucked. Primus, Slayer, Deftones, Hed(pe), and Static-X were all good, but the awesome bands that i saw were System of a Down, Fear Factory, and Slipknot. We didn't watch Godsmack. They're caca!
6-4-99Fuel- This must've been the most crappiest time i've ever had at a concert. We had
