BIO:

The band had opted for a do-it-yourself approach to recordings and releases, the first of which is I, Sharko-"As Vegetables"; the long delayed followed up to 1996's Kramer-produced (Bongwater, Urge Overkill, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, etc) disc. Why the delay? Well, the band was on hiatus from 1997 until early 2001. The Band is back and in their best form yet!

Brought back together by a force that no one could ever control. Paul, Tim, & Derek were born to play music together and have a telepathic way of performing together. I, Sharko were an extraordinary band when they were 16 years old, and they continue in this tradition today, with all the members at age of 27. The Addition of Sam is like being reunited with a long lost brother. The band has no egos and no personality clashes. The sole purpose is to write and play music that they enjoy without compromise. As Derek has said "When I write a song and bring it in to the others and want them to play what they feel is the best part for the track. I feel so lucky that these guys are able to emotionally connect to the music and add such a large part of their souls to it. Tim is a rock solid and ultra tasteful drummer. Paul's basslines are at times bizarre, but always make sense. He plays like no other ever could, which is a direct reflection of his own life experiences and it translates to the music. With Sam and I alternating on lead guitar, it's a feel I've always dreamed about but never thought it could happen so well. Neither of us ever seeks to play a flashy part, and have fun weaving lines between each other. Not to say we never solo, though! There are times when I listen back to a recording and can't even tell who's playing what."

What Happen Between Then and Now?

I Sharko broke up in 1997 to pursue individual life journeys and college. Tim began drumming for WHIMSICAL, Derek joined, quit and then rejoined LONG DIVISION, and Paul forward to the day when Sharko would reform, which he says he was always hopeful that it would happen. When getting back together in 2000, the name THE VEGETABLES was used briefly. Sam joined in late 2000, and shortly thereafter history caught up and the name I SHARKO returned. Sam has been the missing link in completing the band.

Other Members:

The original lineup included James Corpus, man of many mysteries. James played some wicked congas and added some interstellar electronic treatments for the band, which is sorely missed. He also is a bad ass chef! James now prefers to stay off to the sidelines and work behind the scenes as a good luck supporter/ hispanic genie
for I Sharko.

George T Drag was a member of I Sharko! George's notriety began in Your Neighbors. He filled in many gigs with I Sharko as co-lead guitarist. In 1996 George moved to Atlanta and played guitar for The Butterflies. George moved back to Chicago recently with Bryan Cilberto (also ex-Butterflies) and formed Tux (formerly Ego Saboteur) a fantastic country-indie-rock band.

David Perry briefly played in I Sharko. He now fronts the succesful Purple Tree band.

Sharko Gang

Derek See (guitar, vocals):  Writes the majority of the songs (which are arranged with the band's help which is one of the cohesive aspects of I, Sharko). Loves vintage guitars, amps, and izod alligator shirts. Fanatical record collector as well as live music archivist.

Paul Grafton (bass guitar):  Bizarre basslines that reflects is own life experiences and translates it to music.

Tim Fogle (drums):  Man of many talents but his perfection is to be a rock solid and very tasteful drummer.

Sam Carlson (co-lead guitar, vocals):  A weave dreamer with his guitar colliding with Derek See to bring the rush of rock out to the masses.
