Buildup

I calmly sipped at my can of pop as Tay and Ike fought about Tay's new song...Again...For the thrd time...That day.

"Tay, I'm not saying that I don't like the song--" Ike started to say, making a random hand gesture over his beloved acoustic guitar when Tay cut him off.

"Well, that sounds like what you're saying Ike." Tay said, gesturing over his own guitar.

Ike sighed looking my way, silently pleading for some assistance, "Zac..."

"Hey, this is your fight." I said and drank deeply from the cold, sweating can in my hand.

Looking slightly disgruntled Ike turned back to Tay, "I'm just saying it doesn't work with the rest of the songs we decided on for this album."

"How many times have we changed our mind though?" Tay asked, making a good point.

We had started out really gung ho. We had each known what we wanted this album to be and then we comprimised until we had "the band's" concept of what we wanted this alum to acomplish... The only real problem was that we kept changing our minds and making changes again and again. We hadn't made any drastic changes, but they were changes non the less.

"We're already recording five more songs than we need, Tay." Ike sighed, shifting in his seat.

"Exactly, Ike. Why can't we add this song to that list?" Tay said, beginning to get desperate. "It's just one song!"

Ike sighed again and started to argue, but was cut off as the gasy buildup caused by the pop escaped my mouth.

The two of them looked over at where I sat on the couch with my feet proped up on the coffee table that was littered with empty coffee cups and pop cans and started laughing, just as they would have when we were young and immature and recording Middle of Nowhere.

"Dude! Zac, on a scale of one to ten, that was an eleven!" Tay managed to say between laughs and Ike wiped away tears of laughter as they both calmed down.

I lowered my feet from the coffee table and rested my elbows on my knees. Now I was ready to speak up.

"Tay, Ike's right it doesn't work with the feel of the rest of the songs." I started and he looked down at his feet, read to admit defeat. "I still think we should reord it anyway and we can use it for the next membership kit or as a B Side."

I watched them calmly as they both considered it.

"That works." Ike said, nodding contently.

"I can live with that." Tay said cheerfully.

I eyed the minifridge in the corner and smiled. Sitting back with the remains of my pop, I waited for the next disagreement, hoping the next belch I let out would be at least a thirteen.
