When we spoke with Matthew Harper

Ear: What are your goals for next year?

Matt: I have lots of goals, and many project ideas in my mind. I would really like to have one more full-length disk recorded, and I would like to have in the works this fall a Christmas album. I hope that the songs will fall into the traditional category some day. Right now my next album is in the production room. Ear: Well as we close the interview, tell the readers Three things that they can do to support the local music better, and give us three things you think would improve the music scene?

Matt: Well three things that would improve the music scene if they could be possible would be, well first off being the beatnik that I am, there would have to be a true to the word coffeehouse for the acoustic players in the area.

We also need more outside festivals, showcasing local music, and someone taking another shot at a music store would be nice. I personally have to drive a minimum of 40 minutes to get to the nearest music store.

As for how people can support the music scene better, if there is a local band that you like, really support them. Go to their shows and show them that you support them, because with out support you have nothing. The main thing is support; you can probably buy a local band T-shirt cheaper than Metallica anyway. Buy CD’s, Go to the shows, clap your hands and sing along.

When we spoke with 13 Curves...

Doug: Now if you could do anything for music in Vernon County what would it be?

Josh: It is hopeless, everyone would rather be out drinking than coming out to the shows. If the area does like the music they have a weird way of showing it.

Doug: That’s about right.

Josh: One thing that could be done, is for all the bands to get together more and support one another.

Doug: Put all egos aside and have no competition, start to team up more.

Josh: yeah, team up and promote each other and give it hell. I hate to sound negative but what is the chance of any of us getting signed?

Doug: Exactly, pretty slim so just focus on the now.

Give me 3 ways people in the area could support the music better?

Josh: I will sum it up with one, BRING A LIGHTER WITH YOU TO THE SHOW!!!

Josh: And then we will believe.
