A recent episode featured Badly Drawn Boy. Gough previewed four tracks from the forthcoming About A Boy soundtrack on Morning Becomes Eclectic late last year. Gough performs two of them live, "A Minor Incident" and "Donna And Blitzen", while the other two were recorded versions of "The Peak You Reach" and "River Sea Ocean". Later in the episode, Gough plays a new untitled song on piano and later does an improptu rendition of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin". He closes the show with another untitled piano instrumental.

Elbow halt everything because of a lost notebook
Vocalist Guy Garvey has stopped all creative flow within the band, Elbow. Apparently, Garvey lost his precious notebook somewhere between Manchester and London. During breaks from their tour, Garvey would jot down thoughts, ideas, and phone numbers of big-breasted women in the notebook. A reward is being offered for anyone who finds the notebook. The reward can be claimed by dialing 0161-953-4081, or by returning it to the address on the inside cover of the notebook. No, I'm not kidding.

Ryan Adams and his silly, stupid ideas
Ryan Adams, younger brother of Canadian Bryan Adams, has his calendar full for 2002. He has already confirmed three albums worth of material ready for release. Adams, to be confused with Bryan Adams, has an acoustic album titled The Suicide Handbook and an album that was recorded before his solo debut Heartbreaker called Destroyer. He also made an album called 48 Hours, which was recorded just three weeks after last year's Gold. 48 Hours was recorded in, yep you guessed it, 48 hours, and was inspired by Alanis Morrisette. Being the prolific showoff that he is, the bastard has also mentioned working with Evan Dando, James Iha, and Melissa Auf Der Maur for a "supergroup" dubbed The Fucking Virgins. Also, Adams has mentioned working more with Beth Orton and wanting to be in a punk band or a band like Blondie. Cukoo Cukoo.

Sour Times
I just heard Portishead's "Roads" on a Nike commerical. It was actually pretty cool; instead of making me want to buy Nike products, it made me want to listen to the album. But of course, I'm never going to listen to the album again. Nike is a huge corporation, and "Roads" has nothing to do with sports. I would've been more tolerant if Nike chose one of their songs about sports, but they didn't-- and the fact remains, music has no place anywhere, other than in your own personal stereo.

Elliott Smith Goes Back Home
Indie-turned-major Elliott Smith has been recording his sixth album From the Basement On the Hill with his own money. The album was originally intended to be released on major-label DreamWorks, but in a rare move, DreamWorks is allowing Mr. Smith to release the album on a label of his choice. Smith has not decided on a label yet, but the reason for the switch has something to do with "his present disillusionment with the state of majors in general." DreamWorks warned Smith that once that album is released, he better fucking come back to their major-label with major money "or something really bad will happen." Smith had no choice but to agree.

Q and Not U
Matt Borlik quit Q and Not U. Although he's a man who needs no introduction, I must remind everyone that he is now the the former bassist for Q and Not U. It has been made official by a note on their website by drummer John Davis. In the meantime, the rest of the band is working three shifts so that they can get you an album out sometime this year, which would be the follow-up album to their debut No Kill No Beep Beep (Dischord).
