Our Australian Cattle Dog
I am building this site to showcase our baby cattle dog, Jazz. Jazz is only 12 1/2 weeks old right now, but we hope to have him as a top companion and obedience dog. These dogs are a handful, but they are great fun. Australian Cattle Dogs are a highly intelligent and very energetic breed. This can make for an interesting combination.
Jazz is learning basic commands such as "sit", "down", "off", "up", and "let's go", which is very similar to heel. I will post sources for how we trained Jazz in these commands. He is currently learning "leave it", "drop it", and "wait". All of these are explained Brian Kilcommons and Sarah Wilson's book, Good Owners, Great Dogs. This is a wonderful book with clear directions. So far everything we have tried from it has been successful.
