Volunteering
Here are some of the many ways a volunteer can help BIAV:
- Advocacy efforts. We would like volunteers to monitor legislation at the national, state, or federal level, and prepare information for use in our meetings, newsletter, or website.
- Information and referral. We need telephone volunteers to assist on our helpline. We also need help at our office. In addition we need volunteers to search the internet and other information sources for input to our newsletter and website.
- Fundraising. In the past we have been somewhat passive in this area. New ideas are needed.
- Newsletter. Do you know how to use MS Word or MS Publisher? Do you want to write copy for the newsletter?
- Membership. Our membership database is kept current by volunteers. Are you interested in assisting with its maintenance
- Publicity. We need to "get the word" out on brain injury. This ranges from telephoning to letter writing. It even includes delivering newsletters and publicity materials to professional offices.
- Special events. We need help in specific areas for special events, including a new conference, as well as other activities
- Website. We will be spending lots of time to build our website into an extremely useful information and resource center. We can use all of the help we can get.
To volunteer, call the BIAV and express interest in one of the above areas.
