OUR MISSION STATEMENT:
The Scouting Program is designed to provide a positive influence and role model through guidance, direction and friendship, which will allow children ages 7-19 to become valuable and productive citizens. This program allows participants an opportunity to reach their full individual talents and abilities. Scouting builds strong character and the self-discipline it takes to survive in today's growing global economy. Finally, the Memphis Police Department is given an opportunity to develop young men and women into productive members of their community.
WHAT WE ARE ABOUT:
The MPD Scout Troops are non-traditional Scout Troops designed to help kids who normally would not participate in these programs to have a chance to do so. Our meetings are less structured than ordinary Scout meetings, and we do things a little differently. Key things that we work on in our Scout meetings are job skills, academic issues, and personal enrichment activities. Our Scouts typically come from "high-risk" areas. We are blessed though, since the majority of our children do have strong families, and good teachers at their local schools. Specifically, we work on interview skills, resume' builders, and personal pride and development.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Like any other non-profit organization, we function solely on funds from law-enforcement grants and private sector contributions. We also do many fundraisers through the year to support our programs, since we do not charge the children membership fees. If you would like to make a donation, please either call us or fax us or email us. As thanks for your contribution, we will either do a service project for you favorite local charity, or add your to our list of recognized sponsors.
