IS THAT INTERESTING GUY YOU JUST MET
" AN ONLINE PLAYER ! "
Compiled and Written by Miz SaraM

If he's blocking you when he's online, which would be very questionable behavior, then you may want to reconsider having a relationship with him. But how can you know if you're being blocked? Below are suggestions for finding this out.

[ NOTE: For non-AOLers, we hope you will be able to
interchange this info for the system you're using ]

A good many of us ladies use the privacy preferences of our buddy list mainly to block unwanted IMs from perverts, etc., and one of the options allows us to allow only the people we want to know when we are online. But AOL doesn't tell you that you can check to see if a person is online even if they have you blocked. IF he has a profile, you CAN find out if "he's" online and you're being blocked. (NOTE: People without profiles are not listed in this directory):

Click on"People" on the AOL tool bar
Click on "Member Directory"
Type his screen name In the Name box
Click on "Search"
If there's an icon by his name, he IS on line and you have to be blocked for him not to be showing on your buddy list.
Again, this only works if he has a profile

Another possible way to tell if he has you blocked is to open an IM window, type in his screen name, and click "available" ... this works whether or not they have a profile and if they have ONLY their buddy list blocked.

However, if he has BOTH Buddy List and Instant Message checked under privacy preferences, this won't work.

If he doesn't have a profile and you have a Screen Name he doesn't know (and who doesn't?), you can switch to your secret S/N to find out if it's only you he's blocking? If he shows on your buddy list when you're using a S/N he doesn't know, then it's a sure bet you're being specifically blocked for some reason!

I received this additional tip from a FB visitor:

One more little trick I've discovered. If someone has been blocking, when they UNblock and appear on your buddy list, no sound is made and no asterisk is next to their name ... meaning they've been online and didn't just come on

HOW PLAYERS READ THEIR MAIL
AND NOT SHOW UP BEING ONLINE

Through the AOL Communicator program, it lets you simultaneously manage mail for multiple AOL screen names. Using another screen name, you can read your email under your other screenname(s). I was informed of this by a FB visitor per her email below:

I have seen a few ladies say that their mail has been read by the "player", but they never see him on line. I have a hunch on how the players are doing that ... with AOL Communicator feature. Thought if you passed this on to your visitors, it might help them know that the player may in fact be on line, but under another screen name

CHECK YOUR EMAIL OFTEN: You may find out you're being blocked by checking on email you've sent to him. Go to your "Sent" mail screen, click on "Status" which tells you if the email has been read or not ... if read, it will give the date and time it was read. He read your email in the past hour but never showed on your buddy list ... you are being blocked. OR, he sent you an email while you were online but his name never showed in your buddy list ... busted !!!

HOW THEY CAN IM AND SWEET-TALK
TWO WOMEN AT THE THE SAME TIME,
USING TWO DIFFERENT SCREEN NAMES

In brief, there's the regular IM feature that comes with your AOL program and then AOL has another IM program that is at a web site and can be downloaded (and is FREE) which enables you to IM people on other servers.

But players found they could also IM people on AOL with it, thus have two IMs with two different screen names going at the same time, OR pretend to be 2 different men IMing you. BONUS: this program also prevents idle timers from booting you off line for it sends out a "busy" signal every five minutes. Below is the web site:

AOL Instant Messenger
http://www.aim.com/index.adp

ANOTHER BONUS: This program has a feature the IM program that comes with AOL doesn't have -- it tells you how long someone has been on line.

Download this program and when your online interest pops on your buddy list window and then IMs you acting as if he just signed on, run your cursor over his name. In a few seconds, a small screen pops up telling how long he's been online, OR you can type his name in the AIM IM box as if you were going to send a message (but don't) and click on Get Info at the bottom of the message box which will also give you his time online.

He inferred he just signed on but AIM says he's been online for 87 minutes. Hmmmmm. Chatting covertly with another woman (or women)? You may want to keep a closer eye on his comings and goings. BUT there may be another reason why he had you blocked. Was at a porn site and doesn't want you to know he goes to them or etc. But any lie is a RED FLAG.

This IM Program is so much better than the one that comes with AOL. And you CAN use any of your present AOL screen names to register with. BUT when you use it under one of your "other" AIM screen names, you can have two different IMs (an AOL IM & and an AIM IM) going at the same time, chatting w/ two women at the same time, OR pretend to be two different persons IMing the same person!!!

You KNOW when someone is using AIM to IM you for at first you get a small pop-up screen that says so-and-so has sent you an Instant Message and would you like to accept? Then you have to click on "ok" to receive their IM.

AIM screen names have their own separate profiles. If you receive an IM from someone else with AIM, just click on "Get info" at the bottom of the message box, and it will tell you how long that person has been online, what provider he is using, if he's had any warnings from AOL, and shows his AIM profile if he has one.

Ladies, this program is a very useful tool for checking men's honesty and etc.

USING JUST AOL TO IM TWO OR MORE WOMEN
AT THE SAME TIME

Many programs (tools) are offered on the internet that enables you to have more than one IM stacked in one IM box. In other words, it helps you to mind more than one IM at a time.

DOES HE HAVE SCREEN NAMES
YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT

IF he's using a profile with his other screen name(s), you can find out with time and diligence through the Member Directory:

~ Make yourself up a private chat room so you won't be logged off by the AOL timer
~ Pull up the Member Directory

The trick is: DON'T type in too much information. Use one bit of info (Key Words) at a time. Why? For example, if he told you he was a fireman but says he's a cop, pilot, or military officer, on his other screen name(s), if you type fireman in occupation, it won't give you his other screen name(s), which lists something else as occupation, because there's contradicting criteria.

~ Does his name have a group of numbers in it? One's birthdate, zip code, house number, or telphone number (or part of a phone number) is sometimes used with internet names. If he uses this trait, then he may use the same numbers with his other names. Run a search to find names with those same set of numbers

~ In the Name Box, type in just the group of numbers

~ Leave Location blank. He may have lied about where he lives

~ Leave Sex blank (some guys do not bother to check this ... they feel that their screen names specify their gender)

~ Leave Marital Status blank (he might be married)

~ Click on United States in the Countries Box

~ Then click on Search and in just a few seconds you will have a list of all the names with that same set of numbers. Check their profiles (by double-clicking on the name) to see if you find anything suspiciously similar. Be sure to click on 'MORE' to get even more names

Nothing? Then try running a search using his 'personal quote'. Some guys use the same quote on all their profiles.

~ On the first line, type in his personal quote

~ In the Location box, first try his city and state, then state only, then leaving location blank

~ Leave Sex blank

~ Leave Marital Status blank

~ Click on United States

~ Then click on Search and in just a few seconds you will have a list of screen names in that area that are using that particular personal quote. (Be sure to click on 'MORE' to get even more names)

~ Still nothing? Then run a search typing in his full 'real' name {if you don't know his full name, then just type in his first name) and his city and state in Location

~ Run a search only listing the state in Location in case he lied about which city he lived in but is truthful about the state (but be advised, they're not always truthful about what their real name is)

~ Run additional searches by just listing his hobbies [NOTE: list only one hobby at a time]: reading, antiques, rockNroll music, camping, fishing, etc. Then try his birthdate or birthsign, then occupation, etc. You get the picture.

ANOTHER PLAYERS SCREEN NAME TRICK
~ Cloning Screen Names ~

They don't use a profile? Then check to see if they may be using this trick. As AOL uses Arial font for screen names, they can be using a sneaky variation of their screen name as another screen name, if it has an "i" in it and type the name in all caps. For example, JIM234 - in this version, a capital "i" was used. But in this typing of the name JlM234, a lowercase "L" was used for the "i". Only a computer can distinguish an Arial capital "i" from a lowercase "L". Can also be done with the name PHIL, MIKE, BIG BOB - any name with an "i" in it. Or another variation is: any name with an L in it, like Bill, one or both of the L's can be a capital "i", or in Phil, the "L" is really a capital "i". Also, uppercase "O" can be interchanged with zero "0" ~~~> BOB or B0B, Nick207 or Nick2O7

A T T E N T I O N !!!!

If you find out your online guy has other screen names that you don't know about (which is a good indication of a player), DO NOT tell him how you found out!!! DO NOT make these guys any slicker than they already are. He will only dump his profiles and start using screen names with no profiles, making it harder for him to be exposed again. If he asks you how you found out, just tell him, "I have my sources" and let him wonder...AND worry.    heh  heh

IS HE MARRIED???

Below is an excerpt from one of our stories how one woman found out if her online love was married or not:

I found a site called AOL White Pages and I gave it a try, punched in his name and city/state ... BINGO!! phone number and street address. I called the number; a woman answered. So I hung up. Then got a friend to call and have a conversation to make sure. Yes, he WAS married! (NOTE; you don't have to know the city; if you only know the state, you can still get this info)

Hold On To Your Heart
~ author unknown ~

If you meet online
you'd better beware,
many are players
so be prepared.

Hold on to your heart
don't give away trust,
you might find friendship
or nothing but lust.

They may seem sincere
but you can't predict,
sometimes they disappear
in one little click.

It can be hurtful
to open your heart,
give trust to another,
and they silently part.

So what should you do ...
avoid making friends???

Though loss may be painful,
hearts usually mend.
It's worth the chance
to find a true friend.

Go, take a risk,
let friendship start.
Reach out to others
but hold on to your heart.
