My name is Caroline, and I would like to tell you about the beautiful Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, pictured above, which is located on U.S. 1 in Miami, between downtown, and Coconut Grove.

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is an Italian Renaissance-style villa constructed around a central courtyard. James Deering the millionaire industrialist, who was heir to the Harvester fortune, built Vizcaya in 1916 as his winter home. The 34 rooms of the house are furnished with the best materials that money could buy. Deering searched all over the world to find the furnishings, including antiques from the 15th through 19th-centuries, and he always treated his guests just as royally as he furnished his home; with only the finest and most outraeous amenities that were then available.

Vizcaya has the most beautiful grounds, including more then 10 acres of immaculate formal gardens overlooking Biscayne Bay. Deering even had a large dock built so that he and his guests could arrive in style via boat. In the gardens, you will also find many beautiful fountains and statues as well as a maze.

Vizcaya is also famous for being the place where the 1994 Summit of the Americas was held. Famous people such as Pope John Paul II, Queen Elizabeth, President Reagan and President Clinton have been know to visit this beautiful Museum.

Currently, Metro-Dade Parks owns both the home and the gardens at Vizcaya. It is also one of only two officially designated National Historic Landmarks in Miami-Dade County and yet Vizcaya is also accessible to the public, and is available for formal parties, weddings or fundraisers and other charity events.

Please come to South Florida and visit the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. I am sure that you will truly enjoy it's rare beauty.
