*PrOfEsSiOnAl DaNcEr To Do LiSt*
This is a list from my dance teacher given to me to help me professionally prepare myself for out Nutcracker performance. I would like to share with all of you because it really helped me out. Thanx. >1. TaKe CaRe Of My BoDy
- a. Eat healthy
- b. Get enough sleep and rest
- c. Warm-up before every rehearsal
- d.Treat injuries sensibly
- e. Take ballet class everyday...if none is offered, give myself one
2. DeVeLoPe My RoLe
- a. Practice the individual movements that need technical improvement until they are consistently stronger
- b. Analyze the meaning, motivation or musicality of each step or group of steps
- c. Practice the arms in fromt of a mirror until the line & style of them suits the individual role i am performing
- d. Ask questions of myself about patterns, musicality, specific por de bras....if not sure of the answers ask the choreographer
- e. Research my role by having other dancers perform it, reading about its history and by listening to the music until it is a part of my body
3. DeVeLoPe A classical ballet style
- a. Look at pictures & watch videos of Classical Ballet and study the dancer's style.
- b. Choose a dancer whose style makes me love the way he or she moves and try to put some of that line or style into my dancing
- c. Be a classical ballet dancer
- d. Don't keep taking off the mantel of being a dancer and putting it back on when it's convenient...wear it 24 hours a day. If i believe I am a dancer, I will be a dancer.
