FOR LOVE OR MONEY 07/08/03
By Wendy Thompson
Q. Hi A.T. Long show last night! What is your opinion?
A. I found the two hours practically unbearable, but all is fair in the name of ratings.
Q. Talk to me about Rob. I couldn’t help feeling a little sorry for him.
A. Rob chose the woman he felt more attracted to, which was a noble thing to do, and not whom he believed was most likely to choose him over the money. I feel neither one would have chosen him, in the end, even though Paige kept insisting she would not go for the million. I believe Rob will do just fine. The fact he has a history of acting improperly when inebriated is not going to affect his career much. The bottom line is how effective he is as a criminal attorney. A client is not going to worry much about Rob’s past military indiscretion, as long as he has the legal skills to win his case.
Q. What did you think about Paige? I know she grew on you, in the end.
A. Paige is a likeable person. She behaved well during the show, was not “catty”, nor did she speak badly about the other women. I believe she is a fighter and survivor, but I found her “teenager in love act” inconsistent with what I know of her. I noticed, toward the end, she repeatedly brought up the subject of not being certain how long her relationship with Rob would last, insinuating she might end up with neither one. I might be wrong, but believe she would have chosen the money in the end. She miraculously ended up being the runner up, and will expertly milk her momentary fame. I honestly wish her the best.
Q. Well, you predicted it would possibly be Erin. What are your thoughts on her?
A. I was not surprised to see Erin choosing the money over Rob. I believe she would have chosen differently if she had been in love with him. Although I feel Erin was honest with Rob throughout the show, some of her comments were inconsistent with her actions. She kept repeating all the things she could do for her family with the money, but later burned a million-dollar check for the opportunity to become the main character in FLOM-2. In reality, she probably did not want to admit she did not have enough feelings for Rob to choose him over the money.
Q. Do you believe she will do a good job in the upcoming FLOM-2?
A. Erin will possibly do a good job in the next series. She is interesting and pretty enough to make the show enjoyable to watch. I question the probability of one of these men refusing one million dollars to continue a relationship with a woman he has known for only a few weeks, but we will see.
Q. One last question just to satisfy MY curiosity, would YOU give away one million dollars for someone you had met?
A. If I knew she was the right person, we would burn the check together while roasting marshmallows on the beach. This might seem contradictory, but I am a logical romantic. True love lasts forever, one million possibly twenty years if you are thrifty and budget yourself accordingly.
