 God Never Gives Up On Us

It is my dearest wish to be an instrument that God uses to serve other people from His banquet of blessings.

During my down moments, Satan tries to persuade me to believe that because of my many mistakes in life, and now that I'm getting older, there is little I can do for God any more. Nothing fills me with a deeper despair.

But I know my Heavenly Father loves me dearly. My mistakes and sins are forgiven. It is not His will that I listen to the devil's taunts.

I am not useless to God, as long as He has a use for me. Let me not fall for that temptation. May I continue to discover how God wants to use me, and to be useful to Him until my dying breath.

My mother taught me this prayer as a child, and I taught it to all of my children:

Jesus, Tender Shepherd, hear me,
bless Thy little lamb tonight;
through the darkness, be Thou near me,
keep me safe 'til morning light.

All this day Thy hand hath led me,
and I thank Thee for Thy care;
Thou hast warmed me, clothed and fed me,
listen to my evening prayer.

Let my sins be all forgiven,
bless the friends I love so well;
take me home at last to Heaven,
happy there with Thee to dwell.

by Mary L. Duncan (1814-1840)

We teach our children prayers, hymns, and faith in a loving God, because we love them. We want our children to know that we need them. Well, God gave us our capability to love. His love is much greater than ours. How could I ever think He has no use for me any more! I think He must be very disappointed when I entertain such a doubt.

Father in Heaven, hear my prayer,
keep me in Thy loving care.
Be my guide in all I do,
bless all those who love me too.

When we as Christians have grown up, and are adults, our Heavenly Father still sees us as very young. It is His wish to care for us, and love us, just the same as when we were young. He wants us to trust Him to care for us, and forgive us. And also to rejoice in His love, and no matter how dark the sky, to believe that there is light ahead.

Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;
Bright skies will soon be o'er me,
Where darkest clouds have been.
