Therapies for Heartburn in the Second Trimester

HOMEOPATHY

~Carbo veg. 6c - For flatulence and discomfort in the digestive tract after eating.
~Nux vomica 6c - For a heavy, full feelig in the stomach.
~Pulsatilla 6c - For a gurgling, rumbling stomach.

Caution: homeopathic remedies are neutralized by peppermint, a herbal remedy for heartburn.

Homeopathic remedies are VERY symptom specific – generalized diagnosing is not recommended when selecting a homeopathic remedy. Homeopathic remedies should be placed under the tongue and allowed to completely dissolve. Do not drink anything besides water, eat anything, brush teeth or eat mints for 30 minutes before or after taking the remedy.


HERBS

~Seeds such as caraway, dill and fennell may alleviate heartburn. They can be gound and added to food, or chewed whole after a meal.
~Drink soothing lemon balm, chamomile, or peppermint teas throughout the day.
~Take slippery elm powder to ease flatulence: prepare by adding 1 tsp (5g) each of slippery elm and honey to a cup of hot water.
