I lost you through the darkness

In shadows I knew too well

A plunge I wished I could prevent

But the darkness came and fell

I saw you tumble in your dreams

Dreams I knew you desired

Of a better life for yourself

But the darkness now has covered

I see you crying in the darkness

Of tears that leave me weak

I wish I could have told you then

But the darkness wouldn't let me speak

I know you'll make it to the light

You've been in battles before

I see that you'll be strong again

But the darkness has left you sore

I lost you through the darkness

In shadows you vividly remember

I hope you come to forget the pain

But the darkness will be there forever
