has been Prime Minister since 1993. He was a lawyer before
he got into politics like most canadian politicians. He is

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or “mounties” were
formed in 1873 by the first prime minister. Their duty was to
keep law in order in the harsh conditions of the Northwest
Territories, but now they do many things for the Canadian
Government. They are customs officials, judges, mailmen for
out of reach settlements, although their many duty remains the
same, to keep law and order.

Comte
de Frontenac
Comte de Frontenac, another famous Canadian explorer, expanded
Canada down the Mississippi River. He stopped England from
taking over Quebec and defeated the Iroquois.
Samuel De Champlain
Samuel de Champlain is considered the father of Canada. He
was a French explorer and when he arrived in Canada he named it
New France. He is the founder of Quebec, the first
permanent settlement, in 1608. He also founded Ontario. He
was responsible for the peace treaties with most of the
Indians. He spent the rest of his life in Canada and when
he died there were only 150 settlers in Quebec.
Louis Jolliet was the first person to follow the Mississippi River all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico in 1672. He brought back to Canada information about where it went and what the conditions were like.
James Naismith invented basketball.
