The Girl Scout Cookie Sale is a tradition that's almost as old as Girl Scouting itself. It's said that soon after Daisy Low started Girl Scouting, individual troops began selling home baked cookies to fund their activities.
By the 1930's, Girl Scout Cookies became so popular that the girls could not keep up with the demand of baking the cookies themselves. So in 1934, a Girl Scout council in Philadelphia made arrangements for a local bakery to produce and package Trefoil - shaped shortbread cookies.
This was the beginning of the unique and delicious commercially - baked Girl Scout Cookies that America knows and loves.
