Phantom Pyrography and other wood crafts

Pyrography, or woodburing can be a rewarding craft for Phantom fans. A basic tool can be found for around ten dollars (US) and many dollar stores carry unfinished wooden items, or they can be found in craft stores. Below are some sample pieces with the techniques explained.

Wooden Heart First stamp a rose onto your surface. Using a marker, put on the words of your choice. Use a flow point to burn out the design, adding a stem to the rose if desired. Stain, let dry.

Trinket Shelf The Phantom mask is traced on to the box then burned using a fine tip. Later diamond and dot designs are added to the front with the flow tip. Rose stamps are used on the roof, then burned in with the flow tip. Stain the shelf edges only for a nice contrast.

Jewelry Box Using a template, trace the Phantom’s mask onto the box. Use a clear picture of the mask to determine where to shade the mask for a 3D look. Burn the outline and eyes of the mask to the desired thickness. Using swift strokes, fill in the shadow areas. For the box top stamp on your image then burn it. Finish by burning freehand images into the top and bottom of the box’s inside. Stain the outside of the box and the inside edges.

Hand drawn Phantom Duck Draw on the little fellow’s mask, tux, wing and beak. Use a white colored pencil to color his dress shirt cuffs and front. Use the colors of your choice for his beak, bow tie, and body color. Use black marker for his tux and eye. Use gray marker to outline his wing.

Phantom Hearts Using small papier-mâché boxes, print your design and paste it onto the box tops. Use the same technique for wooden ornaments.

Decoupage Box Print your desired images and glue them on the box in overlapping fashion. A good craft glue works well on this project. The inside can be left plain or decorated as well.
