"Home is where the heart is." If you have any corrections, additions, comments or questions, please feel free to contact me. Also, be sure to sign the guestbook before you leave.
I have grown up hearing this phrase and place great value in it. I live in Maysville, Mason County, Kentucky, but home to me is approximately 125 miles down the road in Eastern Kentucky.
Johnson, Magoffin, and Morgan Counties have always held a special place in my
heart, and now that I have been bitten by the genealogy bug, I have a greater appreciation for these counties that I so dearly love.
Lawrence county is also at the top of my favorite list.
My ancestors settled in these areas, tended and worked the land to promote it to be what it is today. They were farmers, landowners, and businessmen, all striving for a better place to raise their families.
So, with this in mind, and modern technology at my fingertips, I will share my knowledge of these counties and my family lines that lived within. And, hopefully, along the way I will meet new cousins and be able to add more names and dates to my
ever-growing database.
In November 2005, two days before Thanksgiving, we learned my stepdad has pancreatic cancer. The cancer was already in Stage IV when it was discovered and inoperable. Since then, we have been taking one day at a time. Complications have began and his time with us has been drastically cut short.
I am thankful for the 26 years Bill has been my dad. He knew when he married my mom that I was part of the package and he never once complained. He has always treated me as if I were one of his own children.
This site would have never existed had it not been for a lunchtime discussion many years ago with my mom and stepdad. With that in mind, I dedicate this site to the dad who raised me and taught me to appreciate life.
I have made every effort possible to provide easy navigation of this site, and in continuing with that effort, I have now added this wonderful search engine. Let me know how you like it!
