Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame
Crusade
On many of the KISS webpages that exist,
there are often pleads for the KISS
fans, or "KISS Army Online" members to
express their interests in the promotion
of KISS music. If you are interested in
doing your part in promoting current
KISS singles, you can write or call radio
stations, MTV, and VH1 to let your
voice be heard. For more information about
this click here.
This page is not about radio or
video promotion, or begging the US
Postal service to make a KISS postage
stamp, however. This page is
designed to get all the KISS fans out
there lobbying for the induction of KISS
into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the
ultimate tribute to any rock and roll
band. I would assume there are other
KISS sites out there dealing with this
subject, but I have yet to see any.
Tell all fellow KISS fans you know to
visit this page and see what they need
to do in order to to get KISS inducted.
KISS has been given the shaft in the
mainstream music world for years, which
is fine, but nothing should deny their
rightful spot in the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame.
Leaders in the music
industry joined together in 1983 to
establish the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Foundation. One function of the
foundation is to recognize the
contributions of those who have had a
significant impact over the evolution,
development, and perpetuation of rock
and roll, by inducting them into the
Hall of Fame. In order to be a nominee
for induction, performers must have
released their first record at least 25
years ago. In early 1999, KISS was
eligible for nomination.
To be
inducted into the Hall of Fame, the
foundation's nominating committe,
comprised of rock and roll historians,
selects nominees each year in the
performer category (there is also a
non-performer and early influences
category). Ballots are sent to an
international voting body of about 1,000
rock "experts". Those performers who
receive the highest number of votes, and
more than 50% of the vote, are inducted.
The foundation generally inducts five to
seven performers each year.
Now,
here is where the KISS fans come in. To
help KISS become a nominee for
induction, you may suggest nominees by
writing to the following
address:
Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame Foundation
1290 Avenue
of the Americas
New York, NY
10104
There is no e-mail
address
to suggest nominees, or I would give the
address. To recommend nominees, you must
write to the above address. Also, I urge
you to voice your opinion on the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame Forum.
Wouldn't it be
great to go visit the Hall of Fame in
Cleveland and see historical KISS
memorabilia? Imagine seeing up close the
original costumes the band wore during
the Destroyer and Love Gun tours. Fans
could see the axe bass, or Ace and
Paul's guitars, as well as Peter's
drums. Considering the emphasis
KISS puts on their memorabilia, there is
no telling what all they will put on
display for all their fans to see. I
would think that KISS would be a major
draw to the hall. Like their live
performances, they will be second to
none. Don't forget to inform the Hall of
Fame Foundation that they are making a
big mistake by bypassing KISS for any
amount of time at all. Remember, write
to these places often pleading KISS's
case, and ask all your fellow KISS fans
to do the same. With your help, KISS
will be right where it belongs, taking
its rightful place in the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame.
