Eastern Kentucky University coach Jeff Neubauer started the following lineup: 6-7 Sr. Timmy Knipp, 6-5 Jr. Denzel Richardson, 6-8 Sr. Eric Stutz, 6-2 Sr. Corey Walden, and 6-2 So. Isaac McGlone.  Coppin State University coach Michael Grant countered with 6-7 Sr. Arnold Fripp, 6-4 Jr. Sterling Smith, 6-8 So. Jerimyjah Batts, 5-10 Sr. Taariq Cephas, and 6-2 So. Christian Kessee.

Baltimore native Denzel Richardson celebrated his homecoming by nailing a three point basket with 0.3 seconds remaining on the clock to give Eastern Kentucky a 66-63 victory over Coppin State.  There were six ties and 22 lead changes in this game.  EKU shot 41.8% from the field including seven of 27 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 26 Coppin State turnovers.  Coppin State shot 50% from the field including 12 of 20 from beyond the arc.  The eagles connected on nine of 17 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 15 EKU turnovers.

Corey Walden led EKU with 33 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, four assists, and five steals.  Eric Stutz added eight points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Taariq Cephas led Coppin State with 17 points including five three point baskets and seven assists.  Christian Kessee added 13 points including four three point baskets.  Sterling Smith chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.  Arnold Fripp recorded eight points and 10 rebounds.
