South Carolina State coach Murray Gavin started the following lineup; 6-7 Fr. Tashombe Riley, 6-4 Sr. Devin Joint, 6-8 Jr. Darryl Palmer, 5-10 So. Karon Wright, and 6-2 Fr. Edward Stephens.  Eastern Kentucky University coach Jeff Neubauer countered with 6-7 Sr. Timmy Knipp, 6-5 Jr. Denzel Richardson, 6-8 Sr. Eric Stutz, 6-2 Sr. Corey Walden, and 6-2 So. Isaac McGlone.

Eastern Kentucky defeated South Carolina State by a score of 63-52.  Eastern Kentucky shot 48.9% from the field including 10 of 26 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on nine of 11 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 17 South Carolina State turnovers.  South Carolina State shot 39.6% from the field including two of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Bulldogs connected on eight of 14 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 13 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

Denzel Richardson led Eastern Kentucky with 18 points including four three point baskets and four rebounds.  Eric Stutz also scored 18 points.  Stutz was eight of 10 from the field and two of three from the free throw line.  Corey Walden chipped in with 11 points.  Isaac McGlone recorded nine points on three three point baskets, four rebounds, and four assists.

Darryl Palmer led South Carolina State with 16 points and eight rebounds.  Edward Stephens added eight points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  6-3 So. Greg Mortimer chipped in with seven points and five rebounds.
