Tennessee State University coach Dana Ford started the following lineup: 6-6 Jr. Demontez Loman, 6-4 Fr. Darreon Reddick, 6-9 Fr. Christian Mekowulu, 6-1 Fr. Charles Tucker, and 6-2 Jr. Xavier Richards.  Eastern Kentucky coach Jeff Neubauer countered with 6-7 Sr. Timmy Knipp, 6-7 Jr. Ja’Mill Powell, 6-8 Sr. Eric Stutz, 6-2 Sr. Corey Walden, and 6-2 So. Isaac McGlone.

Eastern Kentucky defeated Tennessee State tonight by a score of 77-72.  The Colonels led 74-72 with 16 seconds remaining on the clock when 6-1 Jr. Tommy Matthews made the play of the game by blocking a field goal attempt by Tennessee State’s Michael Roper.  Eastern Kentucky connected on three free throws down the stretch to ensure the victory.  Eastern Kentucky shot 50% from the field including 10 of 25 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 21 of 27 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 16 Tennessee State turnovers.  Tennessee State shot 49% from the field including nine of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Tigers connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 13 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

Timmy Knipp led Eastern Kentucky with a career high 23 points including six three point baskets.  Corey Walden added 22 points including nine of 11 free throws, four rebounds, five assists, and four steals.  Eric Stutz recorded 16 points and four rebounds.

6-5 Jr. Michael Roper led Tennessee State with 32 points including seven three point baskets.  Xavier Richards added 16 points.  5-10 Sr. Jay Harris chipped in with 12 points and eight assists.  Demontez Loman recorded six points, nine rebounds, and three assists.
