Tennessee-Martin coach Heath Schroyer started the following lineup: 6-7 So. Chandler Rowe, 6-3 Sr. Marshun Newell, 6-6 Jr. Twymond Howard, 5-11 Jr. Alex Anderson, and 6-0 Sr. Deville Smith.  Eastern Kentucky University coach Jeff Neubauer countered with 6-7 Sr. Timmy Knipp, 6-7 Jr. Ja’Mill Powell, 6-8 Sr. Eric Stutz, 6-2 Sr. Corey Walden, and 6-2 So. Isaac McGlone.

Marshun Newell hit a three point basket with 3.3 seconds on the clock to give Tennessee-Martin a 70-69 come-from-behind victory over Eastern Kentucky.  EKU trailed by 15 in the first half but rallied to actually lead by seven with 8:31 left in the game.  Rebounds were Eastern Kentucky’s Achilles ’ heel tonight as they were out rebounded 43-19 and Tennessee-Martin held an 11-5 advantage in second chance points.  However, this was offset as EKU held a 22-2 advantage in points off turnovers.

Tennessee-Martin shot 50% from the field including nine of 21 from the three point line.  The Skyhawks connected on seven of eight free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored two points off seven EKU turnovers.  Eastern Kentucky shot 44.8% from the field including 15 of 39 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on two of four free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 17 Tennessee-Martin turnovers.

Twymond Howard led Tennessee-Martin with 23 points and seven rebounds.  Marshun Newell added 16 points including four three point baskets and eight rebounds.  Alex Anderson recorded 14 points including four three point baskets, four rebounds, and four assists.  6-7 Sr. Javier Martinez chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds.  Martinez was five of five from the field and one of one from the free throw line.  Deville Smith pulled down eight rebounds and dished out five assists.

Corey Walden led Eastern Kentucky with 21 points including five three point baskets, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals.  Timmy Knipp added 15 points on five three point baskets.  Eric Stutz chipped in with 10 points.  Isaac McGlone recorded seven points, six assists, and two steals.
