South Carolina State coach Murray Gavin started the following lineup: 6-7 Sr. Gabriel McCray, 6-3 Jr. Eric Eaves, 6-8 Sr. Darryl Palmer, 6-0 Jr. Greg Mortimer, and 6-2 So. Ed Stephens.  Eastern Kentucky University coach Dan McHale countered with 6-7 Sr. Jarelle Reischel, 6-4 Jr. Jonathan Hood, 6-9 Fr. Nick Mayo, 6-1 So. Paul Jackson, and 6-5 Jr. Javontae Hawkins.

Eastern Kentucky University defeated South Carolina State by a score of 92-82.  Eastern Kentucky shot 51.9% from the field including 11 of 20 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 25 of 33 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 14 points off nine South Carolina State turnovers.  South Carolina State shot 47.6% from the field including six of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Bulldogs connected on 16 of 26 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 13 EKU turnovers.

Nick Mayo led Eastern Kentucky with 20 points and five rebounds.  Javontae Hawkins added 19 points including three three point baskets, five rebounds, and five assists.  Jarelle Reischel recorded 18 points including 11 of 14 free throws and seven rebounds.

Ed Stephens led South Carolina State with 21 points including five three point baskets.  Gabriel McCray added 18 points and five rebounds.  Eric Eaves recorded 16 points and Greg Mortimer chipped in with 10 points.
