Bowling Green coach Jennifer Roos started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Ashley Turnstall, 5-10 So. Carly Santoro, 6-2 Sr. Abby Siefker, 5-8 Jr. Rachel Myers, and 5-8 So. Sydney Lambert.  Eastern Kentucky University coach Chrissy Roberts countered with 5-10 Sr. Zee Willix, 5-11 Sr. Shavontae Naylor, 6-1 Sr. Jalen O’Bannon, 5-5 Sr. Mariah Massengill, and 5-8 Sr. Alexus Cooper.

 

Eastern Kentucky opened their season with a come-from-behind 57-55 over Bowling Green tonight.  Bowling Green led 32-29 at halftime and extended their lead to nine early in the third quarter before Eastern Kentucky went on a 20-3 lead to take the lead.  Eastern Kentucky led 56-48 late in the game but had to weather a late Bowling Green rally to hold on for the victory.

 

Eastern Kentucky shot 36.2% from the field including four of 16 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 11 of 22 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and committed 15 turnovers.  Bowling Green shot 32.3% from the field including five of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Falcons connected on 10 of 18 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and committed 17 turnovers.

 

Shavontae Naylor led Eastern Kentucky with 15 points and 12 rebounds.  Jalen O’Bannon added 13 points and 10 rebounds.  Mariah Massengill also reached double digits with 12 points and dished out three assists.  5-11 So. Abby Wright came off the bench to provide a spark and scored six points and pulled down six rebounds. 

 

Carly Santoro led Bowling Green with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists.  6-1 Jr. Andrea Cecil added seven points.  Abby Siefker recorded six points and eight rebounds.  Rachel Myers and 6-2 Fr. Clare Glowniak also scored six points each.
