Newport coach Rodney Snapp started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Najee Williams, 6-3 So. Makhi McGuire, 6-6 Sr. Anthony Harmon, 5-8 So. Donnie Miller, and 6-1 Jr. Mekell Burries.  Jeffersontown coach Miquel Coleman countered with 6-3 So. Chris Trigg, 6-0 So. Justin Baker, 6-6 Sr. Delvonte McCloud, 5-7 Sr. Dakota White, and 5-11 Jr. Jalen Davis.

Jeffersontown outscored Newport 19-9 in the second quarter on their way to a 73-63 victory.  The score was tied four times and there were three lead changes in the game.  Jeffersontown took advantage of 20 Newport turnovers which they converted to 28 points.  Jeffersontown shot 43.15 from the field including six of 17 from the three point line.  The Chargers connected on 17 of 26 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and held a 19-10 advantage in bench scoring.  Newport shot 45.3% from the field including 10 of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Wildcats connected on five of seven free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 10 points off nine Jeffersontown turnovers.

Delvonte McCloud led Jeffersontown with 27 points and five rebounds.  McCloud was eight of nine from the field including one of one from beyond the arc, and 10 of 13 free throws.  6-3 Sr. Derius Martin added 10 points.  Jalen Davis chipped in with nine points including two three point baskets and Chris Trigg recorded six points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Mekell Burries led Newport with 26 points including six three point baskets and four rebounds.  Makhi McGuire added 13 points including three three point baskets and six rebounds.
