Eastern Illinois University coach Jay Spoonhour started the following lineup: 6-6 Jr. Ray Crossland, 6-2 Jr. Montell Goodwin, 6-9 Jr. Muusa Dama, 5-7 Jr. Cornell Johnston, and 6-2 Sr. Demetrius McReynolds.  Easter Kentucky University coach Dan McHale countered with 6-7 Jr. Zach Charles, 6-6 Fr. Deandre Dishman, 6-9 So. Nick Mayo, 5-11 Fr. Asante Gist, and 6-2 Sr. Isaac McGlone.

 

Eastern Illinois defeated Eastern Kentucky by a score of 74-60.  The score was tied four times and there were 10 lead changes in the game. The Colonels were cold from the field (38.6%) as well as the free throw line (47.6%).  Eastern Illinois shot 38.9% from the field including nine of 21 from the three point line.  The Panthers connected on 23 of 31 from the free throw line, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 14 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.  Eastern Kentucky shot 38.6% from the field including six of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 10 of 21 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 13 Eastern Illinois turnovers. 

 

Montell Goodwin led Eastern Illinois with 17 points including nine of 10 free throws, six assists, and three steals.  Cornell Johnston added 14 points including three three point baskets, six assists, and three steals.  Demetrius McReynolds chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds.  Ray Crossland recorded 11 points and nine rebounds.  6-2 So. Casey Teson also reached double digits with 10 points including two three point baskets.  Muusa Dama added six points and 12 rebounds.

 

Asante Gist led Eastern Kentucky with 20 points including four three point baskets.  Nick Mayo added 17 points including seven of eight free throws, four rebounds, and five assists.  Deandre Dishman recorded six points and nine rebounds.
