Madison Southern vs. Madison Central (Girls)

Madison Southern coach Summer Simmons started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Conner Coyle, 5-8 Sr. Keri Thorn, 6-0 Sr. Marley Lawson, 5-4 8th Grade Sam Cornelison, and 5-6 Jr. Ashlyn Clark.  Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey countered with 5-10 Sr. Lindsey Johns, 5-10 Sr. Charity Mack, 6-0 Sr. Mallie Cornett, 5-4 Jr. Bailee Vanover, and 5-7 Sr. Kasi Schneid.

 

Madison Central gutted out a tough 46-39 victory over Madison Southern.  Madison Southern came out launching three point shots and led 12-9 after the first quarter.  The Eagles led 33-32 after three quarters but Madison Central rallied in the final quarter to earn the victory.  There were seven lead changes and three ties in this game.

 

Madison Central shot 36.4% from the field including three of six from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 24 Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 33.3% from the field including seven of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on four of four free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored five points off 12 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Lindsey Johns led Madison Central with 17 points, six rebounds, two assists, and seven steals.  Bailee Vanover added 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists.  Kasi Schneid recorded six points and three steals.  Mallie Cornett pulled down five rebounds and blocked five shots.

 

Sam Cornelison led Madison Southern with 12 points on four three point baskets.  Conner Coyle added 10 points including two three point baskets and 14 rebounds.  Marley Lawson recorded eight points and five rebounds.
