Tennessee Tech University coach Kim Rosamond started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Yaktavia Hickson, 5-9 Sr. Hannah Goolsby, 6-2 Sr. Treyvonna Brooks, 5-7 Fr. Akia Harris, and 5-8 Sr. Lindsey Jennings.  Eastern Kentucky University coach Chrissy Roberts countered with 5-11 Sr. Shavontae Naylor, 5-10 Sr. Zee Willix, 6-1 Sr. Jalen O’Bannon, 5-5 Sr. Mariah Massengill, and 5-8 Sr. Alexus Cooper.

 

Eastern Kentucky entered today in a do-or-die situation and came through with a 78-65 victory over Tennessee Tech to earn a berth in the Ohio Valley Conference.  Tennessee Tech led by 10 early in the game but Eastern Kentucky connected on five three point baskets in the first quarter to take a 23-21 first quarter lead.

 

Eastern Kentucky University shot 56.9% from the field including 11 of 19 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 13 Tennessee Tech turnovers.  Tennessee Tech shot 42.1% from the field including four of 17 from beyond the arc.  They connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 11 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

 

Alexus Cooper led Eastern Kentucky University with 26 points including eight three point baskets, four rebounds, and three assists.  Shavontae Naylor added 18 points and four rebounds.  Jalen O’Bannon recorded 15 points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Mariah Massengill recorded a double-double with 10 points, six rebounds, and 10 assists.

 

Yaktavia Hickson led Tennessee Tech with 22 points and five rebounds.  Treyvonna Brooks added 16 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.  Hannah Goolsby chipped in with nine points.
