Kentucky State coach Jamaal Jackson started the following lineup: 6-7 Jr. Kevin Hayes, 6-6 Jr. Ray Croon, 6-7 Jr. Austin Sherrell, 6-0 Fr. Felix Wilson, and 6-2 Sr. Reggie Breeden.  Eastern Kentucky University coach Dan McHale countered with 6-8 Jr. Jackson Davis, 6-5 Fr. AJ Youngman, 6-9 Jr. Nick Mayo, 6-2 Fr. JacQuess Hobbs, and 6-0 Sr. Dillon Avare.

 

Eastern Kentucky University trailed 36-35 at halftime but Eastern Kentucky’s depth prevailed as the Colonels pulled away for a 97-66 victory.  Eastern Kentucky held a 56-18 advantage in bench scoring.  Eastern Kentucky recorded 49.3% from the field including 10 of 18 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 21 of 27 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 16 Kentucky State turnovers.  Kentucky State shot 38.8% from the field including six of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Thorobreds connected on eight of 17 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored five points off nine Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

 

6-4 Fr. Dedric Boyd led Eastern Kentucky with 18 points including two three point baskets, eight rebounds, and five assists.  6-6 So. DeAndre Dishman added 18 points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Nick Mayo recorded 14 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and four blocked shots.  AJ Youngman also scored 14 points including four three point baskets.  6-5 Fr. Peyton Broughton added 13 points including two three point baskets.

 

Ray Croon led Kentucky State with 21 points including two three point baskets and nine rebounds.  Reggie Breeden added 13 points including two three point baskets.  6-7 Jr. David Jelks chipped in with eight points.
