SIUE coach Paula Buscher started the following lineup: 6-0 Fr. Zaria Whitlock, 5-9 Sr. Donshel Beck, 6-3 Jr. Sydney Bauman, 5-8 Jr. Jay’Nee Alston, and 5-8 Sr. Lauren White.  Eastern Kentucky University coach Chrissy Roberts countered with 6-0 Jr. Joya Smith, 5-11 Fr. Bria Bass, 6-2 Jr. Madison Pierce, 5-8 Jr. A’Queen Hayes, and 5-8 So. Shay Solomon.

 

Zaria Whitlock scored a basket in the closing seconds to give SIUE a 62-60 come-from-behind victory over Eastern Kentucky.  EKU led 48-40 after three quarters but SIUE rallied for the victory.  The score was tied nine times and there were 10 lead changes in the game.  SIUE shot 38.1% from the field including one of eight from the three point line.  The Cougars connected on 15 of 18 free throws. pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 12 EKU turnovers.  SIUE held an 18-0 advantage in bench points.  EKU shot 39.6% from the field including five of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 13 of 20 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 13 SIUE turnovers.

 

Donshel Beck led SIUE with 23 points and 11 rebounds.  5-11 Sr. Gwen Adams added 14 points including six of six free throws, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Lauren White chipped in with 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists.  Sydney Bauman also scored eight points.

 

A’Queen Hayes led EKU with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.  Bria Bass added 16 points including three three point baskets.  Joya Smith recorded 11 points including two three point baskets.
