Scott County vs. Madison Central (Girls)

Scott County coach Steve Helton started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Peyton Riddle, 5-10 Jr. Maaliya Owens, 5-10 Sr. Zakiyia Holt, 5-5 Jr. Juliette Smith, and 5-5 So. Morgan DeFoor.  Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey countered with 5-7 Sr. Blaze Pacheco, 5-7 So. Taleya Todd, 5-10 So. Je’Kauri McKeithen, 5-5 Sr. Bailey Vanover, and 5-6 Jr. Madison Barnard.

 

Scott County led 31-24 at halftime and pulled away in the second half for a 65-40 victory over Madison Central.  Scott County shot 30.5% from the field including five of 27 from the three point line.  The Cardinals attempted 36 more shots (82-46) from the field than Madison Central.  The Cardinals connected on 10 of 19 free throws, pulled down 51 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 31 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 30.4% from the field including two of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on 10 of 24 free throws, pulled down 49 rebounds, and scored five points off eight Scott County turnovers.

 

Peyton Riddle led Scott County with 16 points including two three point baskets and seven rebounds.  Maaliya Owens added 11 points, nine rebounds, five assists, two blocked shots, and four steals.  Morgan DeFoor chipped in with nine points.  Zakiyia Holt recorded eight points and 10 rebounds.  5-5 Sr. Zephaniah Gray added eight points and four rebounds.  Juliette Smith recorded six points, five rebounds, and five assists.

 

Bailey Vanover led Madison Central with 17 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  Madison Barnard added seven points and five rebounds.  Taleya Todd also scored seven points and three steals.  Je’Kauri Mckeithen added three points and pulled down 16 rebounds.
