Clay County vs. Madison Central (Girls)

Clay County coach James Burchell started the following lineup: 5-8 Sr. Shelby Phillips, 5-6 Sr. Kimberlyn Mills, 5-9 Sr. Summer Parker, 5-10 8th Grade Clara Collins, and 5-9 Jr. Kaylee Mathis.  Madison Central coach Robbie Cooksey countered with 5-10 Jr. Jekauri McKeithen, 5-7 Jr. Taleya Todd, 5-9 Sr. Logan Hudson, 5-6 Sr. Kelsey Powell, and 5-6 Sr. Madison Barnard.

 

Clay County efficiently utilized their inside-outside offense tonight in a 70-42 victory over Clay County.  Clay County shot 53.7% from the field including eight of 21 from the three point line.  The Lady Tigers connected on four of seven free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 19 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 30.6% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored seven points off 10 Clay County turnovers.

 

Kaylee Mathis led Clay County with 34 points including four three point baskets, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Summer Parker added 17 points and five rebounds.  Parker effectively worked the paint connecting on eight of nine from the field and one of one from the free throw line.  Shelby Phillips recorded 10 points including two three point baskets, two blocked shots, and six steals. 

 

Jekauri McKeithen led Madison Central with 15 points, 11 rebounds, one blocked shot, and two steals.  Taleya Todd added seven points, seven points, four assists, one blocked shot, and three steals.  Kelsey Powell recorded five points, four rebounds, and two assists.
