Madison Central vs. Lafayette (Girls)

Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Jekauri McKeithen, 5-7 Jr. Taleya Todd, 5-9 Sr. Logan Hudson, 5-6 Sr. Kelsey Powell, and 5-6 Sr. Madison Barnard.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 6-0 Fr. Anaya Brown, 5-10 Sr. Lindi DeBilzan, 6-0 Sr. Macey Goff, 5-6 Fr. Lauren Walton, and 5-7 Fr. Olivia Cathers.

 

Lafayette defeated Madison Central by a score of 59-52.  Lafayette raced out to a 14 point lead in the first quarter and led 21-8 at the quarter break.  Madison Central rallied behind a box-and-one defense with Taleya Todd to attempt to slow down high scoring Lindi DeBilzan and some timely three point shooting by Lacie Parks to outscore Lafayette 44-38 over the last three quarters.

 

Lafayette shot 36.1% from the field including five of 16 from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 26 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 38.8% from the field including six of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 19 Lafayette turnovers.

 

Lindi DeBilzan led Lafayette with 18 points including two three point baskets, seven rebounds, five assists, five blocked shots, and four steals.  Macey Goff added 17 points including eight of 10 free throws, 14 rebounds, and six steals.  Lauren Walton recorded 12 points including two three point baskets and four steals.  Anaya Brown added six points, eight rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals.  Olivia Cathers also blocked four shots.

 

Taleya Todd led Madison Central with 16 points, three rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Jekauri McKeithen added 12 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  5-7 So. Lacie Parks recorded 12 points on four three point baskets, three assists, and three steals.  Kelsey Powell dished out six assists.
