Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Jekauri McKeithen, 5-7 Jr. Taleya Todd, 5-9 Sr. Logan Hudson, 5-6 Sr. Kelsey Powell, and 5-6 Sr. Madison Barnard. Madison Southern coach Summer Simmons countered with 5-9 Sr. Zaria Carter, 5-8 Sr. Anna King. 5-10 Jr. Aleigh Richardson, 5-6 Jr. Sunni Walters, and 5-6 So. Samantha Cornelison.
Madison Central took a 28-27 lead with 7:15 remaining in the third quarter but Madison Southern rallied and pulled away for a 53-39 victory over Madison Central. Madison Southern controlled the boards tonight and held an 18-4 advantage in second chance points. The score was tied five times and there were five lead changes in the game. Madison Southern shot 33.9% from the field including two of 13 from the three point line. The Lady Eagles connected on 13 of 21 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 12 Madison Central turnovers. Madison Central shot 32% from the field including one of eight from beyond the arc. The Lady Indians connected on six of 13 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored eight points off 11 Madison Southern turnovers.
Samantha Cornelison led Madison Southern with 19 points including 10 of 15 free throws, 13 rebounds, and two assists. Sunni Walters added 12 points. Zaria Carter recorded six points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots.
Madison Barnard led Madison Central with 11 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Kelsey Powell and Taleya Todd added eight points each. Jekauri McKeithen recorded four points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots. Logan Hudson chipped in with four points, eight rebounds, one blocked shot, and two steals.
