Eastern Kentucky University coach Samantha Williams started the following lineup: 6-0 Sr. Catie Kaifes, 5-8 Sr. Shay Solomon, 6-2 Jr. I’Liyah Green, 5-6 Jr. Qay Stanton, and 5-7 Jr. De’Ayra Davis.  Butler coach Kurt Godlevske countered with 6-0 Sr. Shae Brey, 5-11 Sr. Katherine Strong, 6-1 Jr. Naira Caceres, 5-8 Jr. Genesis Parker, and 5-10 Sr. Kristen Spolyar.

 

Butler raced out to a 14-2 first quarter lead and was never threatened on their way to a 73-41 victory over Eastern Kentucky.  Butler shot 45.5% from the field including seven of 13 from the three point line.  They connected on 16 of 25 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 27 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.  Eastern Kentucky shot 29.1% from the field including four of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on five of 11 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 23 Butler turnovers.

 

Kristen Spolyar led Butler with 19 points, six rebounds, and three steals.  Naira Caceres added 14 points including three three point baskets, eight rebounds, and two steals.  Genesis Parker also reached double figures with 10 points.  5-11 Fr. Oumou Toure recorded nine points, nine rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Shae Brey chipped in with seven points, three rebounds, and six assists.

 

6-1 Jr. Samari Mowbray led Eastern Kentucky with 15 points including three three point baskets and four rebounds.  De’Ayra Davis added 12 points and three steals.  5-11 Jr. Bria Bass recorded five points and five rebounds.
