Youngstown State coach John Barnes started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. McKenah Peters, 5-8 Fr. Maddie Schires, 6-2 Fr. Jen Wendler, 5-8 Fr. Taylor Petit, and 5-10 Jr. Chelsea Olson.  (Youngstown State was without the services of 6-1 So. Amara Cinkwe, 6-3 Sr. Mary Dunn, 5-10 Fr. Lexi Wagner, and 6-4 Jr. Emma VanZanten tonight.  Eastern Kentucky University coach Samantha Williams countered with 5-11 Jr. Bria Bass, 5-8 Sr. Shay Solomon, 6-2 Jr. I’Liyah Green, 5-6 Jr. Teri Goodlett, and 5-7 Jr. De’Ayra Davis.

 

Eastern Kentucky raced out to a 15 point lead midway through the second quarter but Youngstown State rallied to only trail by four points; 35-31 at halftime.  The Penguins outscored EKU 23-12 in the third quarter on their way to a 72-63 victory.  Youngstown State connected on 11 three point baskets and was a sizzling 17 of 19 from the free throw line.

 

Youngstown State shot 46.8% from the field including 11 of 20 from the three point line.  The Penguins connected on 17 of 19 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 11 EKU turnovers.  Eastern Kentucky University shot 40.3% from the field including seven of 26 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 15 Youngstown State turnovers.

 

5-5 Jr. Ny’Dajah Jackson led Youngstown State with 19 points including three of three from beyond the arc.  Taylor Petit added 15 points including three three point baskets, nine rebounds, and three assists.  Chelsea Olson recorded 13 points, six rebounds, and two assists. McKenah Peters chipped in with nine points and five rebounds.

 

Teri Goodlett led Eastern Kentucky University with 21 points including five three point baskets, six rebounds, and three assists.  Bria Bass added 11 points, five rebounds, and two assists.  5-10 Fr. Maleaha Bell recorded seven points and four rebounds. I’Liyah Green blocked three shots.
