JAMES FAMILY
SMALLWOOD
At present, all I know about the SMALLWOOD line is in the JAMES information.
To recap: Cloah SMALLWOOD, mother to Eliza SMALLWOOD,
signed together with Henry SMALLWOOD in 1815 for Eliza to marry William Baley JAMES.
Once married, I loose track of the SMALLWOOD family.
I suspect they move to Union Co., KY, but I have no proof of this--only names that were alike.
I do know that the Jefferson Co., KY, SMALLWOOD line
and the Union Co., KY, line both had close dealings with a John BEAN.
John SMALLWOOD in Jefferson Co., KY had land they owned together.
In Union Co., KY, Susan SMALLWOOD married a John BEAN.
Also, Susan had a brother John.
Anyone who could shed some light on this situation would be appreciated!
JAMES
William JAMES was came from MD around late 1700's. He died 16 Aug. 1833 in Jefferson Co., KY. His wife is unknown at present.
They had 5 living children that is known:
1. Nancy JAMES; b. 1787 in MD; d. 18 Apr 1859 in Greene Co., IN; m. Bartholew ELLINGSWORTH in Jefferson Co., KY 11 Nov. 1809.
2. Priscilla JAMES; m. William SMITH 28 Jun 1818.
3. William Baley JAMES; b. MD; d. in Jefferson Co., KY; m. Eliza SMALLWOOD.
4. Isaac JAMES; b. MD; d. Jefferson Co., KY; m. Elizabeth ELLINGSWORTH in Jefferson Co., KY 12 Mar 1821. Isaac died before 20 Nov 1825 because Elizabeth Ellingsworth m. Henry Thorn on that date.
5. Elizabeth JAMES; b. in MD; d. in Jefferson Co., KY; m. James DAILEY in Jefferson Co., KY 10 Nov 1850.
SECOND GENERATION
William Baley JAMES m. Eliza SMALLWOOD 25 Feb 1815 in Jefferson Co., KY. Her mother Cloah SMALLWOOD and Henry SMALLWOOD signed for her. The marriage bond stated Eliza's father was dead. There was no indication of who Henry SMALLWOOD was. Was he a brother or uncle?

1. Adam JAMES; b. 30 Jan. 1845 in Jefferson Co., KY; d. 17 Apr 1896 in Daviess Co., KY; m. Euretha SNAWDER 21 Jul. 1869 in Jefferson Co., KY.
2. Martha Ellen JAMES; b. 18 Apr. 1846 in Jefferson Co., KY; d. 17 Apr. 1920 in Daviess Co., KY; m. Adam ARNOLD in Jefferson Co., KY 4 Jun. 1863.
3. John C. JAMES(pictured at top of page); b. 28 Oct. 1846 in Jefferson Co., KY; d. 13 Oct. 1928 in McLean Co., KY; m. Perlina Ann CAPLE/CABLE in Jefferson Co., KY 23 Dec. 1869.
4. Sarah JAMES; b. 1849 in Jefferson Co., KY; d. 1867 in Jefferson Co., KY; m. George Washington CAPLE in Jefferson Co., KY; buried in Old CAPLE Cemetery in Jefferson Co., KY.
5. David JAMES; nothing known.
6. Mary Elizabeth JAMES; b. 20 Sept. 1853 in Jefferson Co., KY; d. 14 Mar 1904 in Daviess Co., KY; m. Benjamin K. ARNOLD
