Words of Inspiration

Overheard at a conference: "God must have autism ~ why else would the planets spin?"

I often say this prayer to myself:

"God, grant me the SERENITY to accept the things I cannot change,..."
(my daughter's disability, my husband's different timetable, proffesionals' resistance, and/or others' attitudes toward my daughter and our family, etc.)

"...COURAGE to change the things I can,..."
(my attitudes, thoughts, feelings, and plan of action to advocate for my daughter's and other disabled children's rights and needs)

"...and the WISDOM to know the difference."
(through talking things over with others who understand disability issues, helping me to get clearer on knowing the difference)

I find strength and healing in these thoughts.

FOOTPRINTS

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonging to him and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."

The Lord replied, "My child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of of trial and suffering, when you only see one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." - Author Unknown

Good Morning,

I am God. Today I will handling all of your problems. Please remember that I do not need your help.

If the devil happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, DO NOT attempt to resolve it. Kindly put it in the SFJTD (Something For Jesus To Do) box. It will be addressed in MY time, not yours.

Once the matter is placed into the box, DO NOT hold on to it or attempt to resolve it. Holding on or removal will delay the resolution of your problem.

If it is a situation that you think you are capable of handling, please consult me in prayer to be sure that it is the proper resolution.

Because I do not sleep nor do I slumber, there is no need for you to lose any sleep. Rest my child. If you need to contact me, I am only a prayer away.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong
As they sometimes will,
When the
road you're trudging
Seems all uphill,
When the funds are low
And the debts are high,
And you want to smile,
But you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you
down a bit,
Rest if you must
But don't you quit.
Life is queer
with its twists and turns,
As every one of us
sometimes learns,
And many a
failure turns about,
When you might have won
had you stuck it out.
Don't give up,
though the pace
seems slow -
You may succeed with
another blow.
Success is failure turned
inside out -
The silver tint of the
clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell
How close you are;
It may be near
when it seems
so far.
So stick to the fight
when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst
that you must not quit.

Some people complain because roses have thorns...I am thankful that thorns have roses.

This really puts things into perspective.

What if....

I asked God to take away my pride.
God said "No".
It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said "No".
Her spirit was whole, her body was only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience.
God said "No".
Patience is a byproduct of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is earned.

I asked God to give me happiness.
God said "No".
I give you blessings, happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.
God said "No".
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said "No".
You must grow on your own, but I will prune you to make you fruitful.

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life.
God said "No".
I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things.

I ask God to help me LOVE others, as much as he loves me.
God said... Ahhhh, finally you have the idea!

What if,
GOD couldn't take the time to bless us today because we couldn't take the time to thank HIM yesterday?

What if,
GOD decided to stop leading us tomorrow because we didn't follow HIM today?

What if,
we never saw another flower bloom because we grumbled when GOD sent the rain?

What if,
GOD didn't walk with us today because we failed to recognize it as His day?

What if,
GOD took away His message because we failed to listen to the messenger?

What if,
GOD didn't send His only begotten Son because He wanted us to be prepared to pay the price for sin?

What if,
the door of the church was closed because we did not open the door of our heart?

What if,
GOD stopped loving and caring for us because we failed to love and care for others?

What if,
GOD would not hear us today because we would not listen to Him yesterday?

What if,
GOD answered our prayers the way we answer His call to service? What if,
GOD met our needs the way we give Him our lives???

EXPLAIN GOD

(Written by Butchie Burwell age 8, from Jeannette Pennsylvania, for his third grade homework assignment to "Explain God".)

"One of God's main jobs is making people. He makes them to replace the ones that die so there will be enough people to take care of things here on earth.

"He doesn't make grown-ups, just babies. I think because they are smaller and easier to make. That way, He doesn't have to take up His valuable time teaching them to talk and walk, He can just leave that to mothers and fathers.

"God's second most important job is listening to prayers. An awful lot of this goes on, since some people, like preachers and things, pray at times besides bedtime.

"God doesn't have time to listen to the radio or TV on account of this.

"Since He hears everything, not only prayers, there must be a terrible lot of noise in His ears, unless He has thought of a way to turn it off.

"God sees everything and hears everything and is everywhere, which keeps Him pretty busy. So you shouldn't go wasting His time by going over your parent's head asking for something they said you couldn't have.

"Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don't think there are any in Jeannette Pennsylvania, At least there aren't any who come to our church.

"Jesus is God's Son. He used to do all the hard work like walking on water and performing miracles and trying to teach the people who didn't want to learn about God. They finally got tired of Him preaching to them and they crucified Him.

"But He was good and kind like His Father and He told His Father that they didn't know what they were doing and to forgive them and God said OK.

"His Dad (God) appreciated everything that He had done and all His hard work on earth so He told Him He didn't have to go out on the road anymore, He could stay in heaven. So He did.

"And now He helps His Dad out by listening to prayers and seeing things which are important for God to take care of and which ones He can take care of Himself without having to bother God. Like a secretary, only more important of course.

"You can pray anytime you want and they are sure to hear you because they got it worked out so one of them is on duty all the times.

"You should always go to Church on Sunday because it makes God happy, and if there's anybody you want to make happy, it's God.

"Don't skip church to do something you think will be more fun like going to the beach. This is wrong!

"And, besides, the sun doesn't come out at the beach until noon anyway. If you don't believe in God, besides being an atheist, you will be very lonely, because your parents can't go everywhere with you, like to camp, but God can.

"It is good to know He's around you when you're scared in the dark or when you can't swim very good and you get thrown into real deep water by big kids.

"But you shouldn't just always think of what God can do for you. I figure God put me here and He can take me back anytime He pleases. And that's why I believe in God."
